A heckuva lot if I am expected to cough up more cash to upgrade after the V5 fiasco.
That may sound harsh but that's the way it is... sorry...

I’m hoping that the good, usable, feel will remain, but with a more solid platform underneath.
I’m looking for 2 things:
stability, and perfect sync between tracks.
I hope the look and feel don’t go away.

Hi n-Track Users:
I am looking for Flavio to update-or-rearrange the “Streaming” code to be improved…
to allow the tracks and data to play/process seamlessly during the Play-and-Record process…
and whatever causes the integration of plug ins and streaming as little stress as can be allowed on the video and audio card combinations…
I’m seeing several audio programmers working and updating this aspect of their software… They appear to be working on improving and streamlining the coding to reduce the CPU Usage… I believe that this is what they are working on…
Also, I’d like to see Flavio introduce an improved VU METER Utility to monitor Track Levels…
AND improve the way Tracks are accessed to-and-from Hard Drives to the Timeline… AND…
the way sampling frequencies of tacks are processed on the timeline…
AND…
AND…
I’d like to see Flavio allow-or-add “GROUPS” to the Rendering Process…
If this feature is not incorporated in this version I will have to get busy and draw a “Block Diagram” to explain how this feature how-and-should work when introduced to the rendering process…
I believe that no-other multi-track editor has this feature in it’s rendering process…
n-Track would be Cutting New Ground if this feature were present…
I am unable to think that this coding is that difficult to add to the Editing Process…

Since my migration to Samplitude 8 SE and later Cubase Studio 4 I have stopped expecting much from new releases of n-Track. If I am going to use n-Track again, some serious issues are going to be sorted out, improved and solved - among them a more smooth VST/VSTi performance, a more smooth performance in general (here, v. 5 has had the habit of hesitating for about one second before starting, and having hiccups whenever stopping, no matter what settings of the ASIO interface I selected), a better latency compensation (I have always had an issue with the Aux channels delaying everything for about 0.5 seconds, making e.g. SIR reverb VST unuseable), higher stability (sometimes n-Track will suddenly disappear for no reason whatsoever, leaving its instance behind in the Windows XP Task Manager), several issues with the gain structure (volume settings and volume automation not adding up properly, for instance), a slow-reacting GUI (strangely taking precedence from the audio engine despite setting priority to “High”), and a greedy footprint (when I first got Samplitude 8 SE, I thought the application was buggy because it used up so few ressources doing essentially the same as I tried to do with n-Track).
I no longer have any expectations that these issues will be fixed.
Still, I would like to thank Flavio for giving people like myself the opportunity to work with a DAW on a budget - that learning experience has paid back many, many times over the years.
Despite the ranting above I am not unhappy with having used n-Track, I’ve just outgrown it, I think…
regards, Nils
I want a “normalize scan for the master chanel”
= a normalize scan for the mixdown (without first mixing down).

Ability to work with ACID Loops or any loops for that matter. Hate programing drums, cant play really drums worth a damn. For me listen, chop, cut, slice, insert, listen, expand or compress time is the way to go for drums.
A ‘Talent’ button would be nice, and almost critical in my case.
better asio usage and to finally fix the volume envelopes, everything else works wonders for me
There are two things on my wish list for version 6.
1) Please make the volume envelopes adjust with the delay when plugins are used. This is a major PITA.
2) My dream feature would be an easy way to make a click track. Hotdogwater did a great tutorial on n-Track drums but making a click track is a complicated process. I would love to see a function where you entered the bpm, which beat was accented, and chose from a few different sounds, and then the program would make this track. Damn, that would be nice.
I think it would be a help if two instantances of the program could not be started inadvertantly. When I occationally get two copies runnig I have problems.
I would like to see the groups function like they do on a standard audio console - ie, a channel can be assigned to group 1, 2, 3, 4 and/or main out. Currently n-Track only allows only the “or” scenario (group 1 or 2 or 3, etc).
It would also be great to have outputs assigned to the Aux’s as well, just like the audio consoles.
The advantage of this (and of the groups) is when monitoring existing tracks when putting down new tracks, you could send certain channels to various outputs which would be hooked up to headphone amp channels. Currently, all I can send the musicians is 2 channels. With 2 Terratec 8 in/out sound cards, its frustrating that I can only send them the 2 channels and the other 14 out channels sit there useless.

ReWire slave.
Rock solid performance when recording in Windows Vista Ultimate. I lay down a track at a time and I want to do so without worrying about a blown take because of issues with the audio interface drivers or Fx. Particularly as I do not use the LIVE feature. I monitor the live input through the audio interface.
I’ve looked at Reaper and it seems to have its own set of issues. nTrack just seems to be a bit easier to figure out for me.

I think it’s a waste of time. It runs like thick syrup and just a pain in the arse for any serious work.
You should really be able to do anything you can figure out/configure with hardware, a patch-bay and fully-featured mixer, right? With the Plus that routing in general ought to be “stupid” with busses, sends and other possibilities, of course… this is software.
To really do this efficiently, I’m reading that the code needs to be sparse and clean. Without attachments to Microsoft business. Is this true?
Stability!
And I second Bill Clarke’s Talent button!
