found it Drivers/Docs, etc for EWS88MT
BTW, I just realized that Terratec has updated the drivers for the EWS88MT to include not only XP but the newer x86 operating system. That’s pretty cool for a discontinued model.
Thank you, Paul! I appreciate your time mang, and it does look like this’ll do the trick. My PC’s mainboard’s doc says I’m PC 2.2 compliant, and from the looks of the drivers page you got there, I’m going to be allright.
I’m off to nail it. Thanks again! May a thousand beautiful young women come and dance at your front doorstep, and may your wife not mind it too much!
Peace.
Edit: Yeah- I’m thinking it must be supported by whatever I’m running. This is all pretty new update, and this PCI thing I’ve been hawking is a very general, accross-the-board kind of thing I think.
Anything I know about computers is followed by, “I think”.
Great to hear. Let me know how you make out.
Paul
Done deal- just bought it for $100. So far, so good!
A BIG THANK-YOU to all of you guys (you too Maria!), for chiming in and offering your knowledge and wisom to this, my little endeavor to get into working order. You cats are the coolest, man… awesome forum.
And thanks again Van, for your footwork! Way over the top, dude.
I’ll now take a break from my whining. And I’ll be back…hopefully with some tracks to tear apart! Peace.
Hey, I hope you get up and running Sloom-dude!
Good luck!
D
Thanks, Dioge. Me too!
Gawd, what a walk in the swamp… got to learn about a lot of fun gear though, and did a lot of “Windows”-shopping!
BTW I thought I had steered you wrong about the upgrade, stating it now supported the new x86 operating system (x86 is the Intel Line). I just checked again and it is for the XP and x64 operating system. So life is good.
Sloom, you got a good deal for $100. Did it include both cables?

The C-Port has the problem that the company that make them is out of the business, no upgrade for the drivers, even in the place that used to be the "official" forum, the vendors guys recommend to get something else. But an used one can be very cheap and very useable, i had one and is really easy to setup, the line-ins are very good. The preamps are very bad. |
Drivers and interface have been updated by an outfit called ECI I think. I used to have to run WIn98SE in order not to get clicks and pops, but the updated drivers work like a charm with XP pro now. I got the newer drivers from the Hoontech website last year.

I'm certain it comes with the 7' cable for outside the PC, as it's in the photo, and the guy metioned it... not sure about the bay-mounting, internal cable. Hmmm. But I'm putting the box on my desktop, and the PC is on the other side of an insulated wall. This'll be the situation forever here, probably. Unless I can aford a Spectral sometime!
Yeah, a good deal allright! I sort of jumped on it with all fours- soon as I knew it'd work. And although you never *really* know 'till it shows up and you plug it in, it looks like it'll be allright. And I'd checked that update- only then did I type as fast as I could to go grab the Terratec!
Yours was one of several favorable heads-ups toward this card... that was another reason to keep looking at it. End-user reviews are heavier than magazine reviews!
Good to hear. Let me know how it goes when you get it. A couple of things I learned during the installation. Make sure it is hooked up before installing the drivers. Also install the drivers first (XP probably won’t detect it), then reboot, then install the Phase88 control panel. If you ever upgrade the drivers, uninstall the Phase88 control panel first, upgrade the drivers, then reinstall the newer version of the Phase88. Trying to upgrade the Phase88 will make it not work. Trust me.
Also, I got a 10’ 8 channel RCA to Phone snake off ebay for about $18US plus shipping, which works great in connecting to my mixer (Berry MX2442).

In regards to the C-Port, I installed one on a friends computers - and it just would not work properly under XP not matter which drivers we used. One of the other problems we had was that the hard drives would not go to DMA in XP. Going to 98 fixed all that.
I’ll never get an ECS motherboard. I believe he took all the good stuff out of the case (drives, c-port), and smashed it with an axe.

Thanks Paul. That was going to come up!
I'll probably just get short RCA cables for hook-up. The snake was going to come into play for the 1010LT. I'll be looking for an XLR snake soon, though, for ins to the mixer.

Muhahahahahah.... I've wanted to do that...
Well allright, the Terratec arrived today. I was a bit worried, as the PCI card appeared to have taken a considerable bump! But it works fine, as far as I can tell.
I had to get the install sequence right ( !), but it’s working now. I have a question about how to route signal in and out of it, but I’m going to the Terratec site before I start a new thread. Which I should, as this one’s gotten old!
Anyway, a final thank you to all you folks who gave up what you had/knew about all this. I’m psyched to get some stuff done, and to finally learn about my system! Time to get a jam scene going on soon, the “studio” is close to usable. Hee-hee…
Great to hear it came and is working fine. I’ll be watching for your new thread. Have fun…
