I said “You see Bill, you have taken the side of death in this issue. That is what the Republican spin machine is about. For if you were truely about preserving life, all life, you would take the side of the mother, not the unborn cells. It is the duty of the mother to decide whether life will take place, not some legislator whose only thought is for power.”

Bob said,"
Sorry but you are wrong. I can say the same for you that if you are truly for perserving life, all life, you take the side of the unborn baby. Yes a woman can decide whether a life will take place, but once she has conceived a life, it is her duty to protect and nurture it. “

I want to be sure I understand you. You are saying that you are for the control of birth by legislation, not by the parents. You would rather some person in Washington decide that you MUST give birth. You believe that a persons body is no longer their own once a single cell has split into two. Or do you believe that they should no longer control their own body during sex itself? :) ???

As you say, it is the job of the mother to nurture the growing fetus… but there is another side to that. It is also her job to not nurture the fetus. That is her right as a human. Are you going to find every poor woman who has conceived and supply her with a warm home, 3 squares, proper medical care and then after she gives birth help her till the baby is an adult? If you are not willing to go that far, then you are contributing to the death of that young child because of malnourishment, abuse, neglect or any one of a million other possible problems including poverty. Or do you believe that you should just force the woman to give birth and then she is on her own? You see, if you are going to force your views on others, then you MUST take responsibility for all aspects of that fetuses development all the way until it can sustain itself as an adult.

Even though legislators think they know what is best for all of us that does not mean that they know what is best for each of us. Only the individual can know that. And that is the real reason that women should be allowed to make this decision. It is easy to say, You must have the baby.” and then walk away. And that is what I see the Republican party doing… walking away. At least until they are 18, then they get them to go kill for big business.

By the way, I am not a Democrat. I am much more Republican than the current administration or any of the top Republicans. I believe in small government and fiscally responsible spending. The current Republicans seem to be into raping the economy and killing for money. So I am definitely not that kind of Republican.

You see, a small government should not stick it’s nose into the business of the average person when it comes to personal affairs.

TG, you’re nuts.

Bubba? Tell me something I DON’T know! :D You have to be nuts to deal with what I have to deal with everyday. Otherwise, you’d go postal and start doing stupid stuff.

D – Kindergarten teacher. Youngest Student - 43 years old…

EDIT: Oooooh Baby! Here’s 39!

Gack! Ugh! Snort! Missed 39, I got dibs on 40.

Speaking of kindergarten, I about beat someone this morning. I was in the office finishing our datcenter move until 3 last night. So I tell the guys, be here at 8AM sharp as it is inevitable something will be hosed and I am going to be a zombie, so deal with it. Wouldn’t you know the first call on my cell comes in at about 8:10AM becuase something is hosed and NO ONEwas int he office yet to deal with it. Then when they got in the office everyone had a brain vacation… how do I set up an FTP account again? What did the IP for server X change to… even though everyone has had the network topology map in hand for two weeks with everything labeled. Grrr… I need a nap.

I want 40… I want 40!!!

I was so close to this one… :(

It talked about all kinds of books that were written, including the Gospel of Thomas (Jesus the early years)

Yeah, yeah... Didn't Jesus kill a kid or something?

No. Not acoording to the film, and the hisortians interviewed in it.
It was said he roase the kid from the dead, just so the kid could tell everyone that Jesus didn't do it...lol!

Tim & Bubba, you mindless thugs, Michael Moore was right about one thing: FEAR is what makes the US tick

I guess that’s why we are in charge… way back when we said we would be in at 8AM, we actually were there at 8AM.

Now, wait just a minute... you're scaring me here... I am really afraid you are trying to say we are a fearful bunch. To think that we are afraid is just frightening!

EDIT: Teryeah? I got two words… AIN’T SKEERED! :D

I am 100% serious in what I am about to say. Assuming I can sell this place someday and retire before I am 100 and crippled, I want to be a short order cook. I think a month or two in Waffle House or Jack and Benny’s (the local greasy spoon around the corner) would be a hoot. I think I could really get into hash browns, eggs, and flinging slices of cheese. The woman thinks I am nuts as I go to those plaes and sit at the counter just so I can watch and learn the technique… like where to stick the bread and mayonaise packets on the plates to mean something… one way means sausage, egg and cheese sandwhich, another means western omlette and grits. I haven’t quite gotten the code cracked yet.

I want to be sure I understand you. You are saying that you are for the control of birth by legislation, not by the parents.

I am saying that life should be preserved by legislation if necessary. Laws against killing a human being in cold blood are already on the books. Apply it all humans, born and unborn.

You believe that a persons body is no longer their own once a single cell has split into two.

Nope. It is still thier body, but now they are carrying another life that is dependent on them for nourishment and shelter and since that unborn human life is a living human being it should be given the right to life before and after the birth.

And for your information, I give financially every month at our local Pregnancy Crisis center for women who are alone and in need of help and we help set them up in housing with food and medical assistance. And we don’t stop there. They can call anytime for help in raising a child alone. And by the way, there are many Pregnancy centers in this country that do the same thing.

Nah, I ain’t going for forty pages. Nothing can be said that will change my mind and I suspect nothing I will say will change anyone else’s in here either. Take care guys.

[ EDIT] Sorry Bubba, didn’t mean to hit forty…c ya guys

Dude, you are so going down. You sniped 40 from me! Someday, when you least expect it… I’ll be behind the counter and I’ll move the mayonaise packet just so that you’ll end up with raisin toast instead of wheat! Ooo, or maybe decaf instead of regular! (though that involves folding the cheese somehow I haven’t quite mastered)

Heh. The Huddle House here in town? They use the code and the waitresses use a verbal code. PLUS, they are all Mexican and speak SPANISH!

I'll probably end up a door greeter for Wal-Mart... **sigh**...

D -- Jalapeno grits anyone?

Not to take anything away from your support, but if you guys had a social security system worth sh!t this would be completely unncessary.

Oh, it’s worth sh!t alright. :;):

I’d say that’s overestimating it somewhat…

Bob, constitutionally the fetus does not have rights. Even if it did, there is no reason to say that its rights would trump the woman’s. And in any case there are reasonable, rational people who disagree on the matter - so the question then becomes one of public policy: what should the law do when reasonable people disagree in a case like this? The answer: stay out of it. It’s a personal choice.

I can agree to a point Tom… except for one minor niggle. Who gets to decide what constitutes “reasonable” and “rational”? That gets even further to the root of this unsolvable problem IMO.

D – Don’t like abortion. Don’t like gummint either… Screw me eh?

Abortion is murder. Perhaps it aint murder under the laws of most states, but its still murder. And even if the law says it aint murder, its still a sin and its morally wrong. You all know that.

So whats the alternative? Forced pregnancy? An 11 year old kid who was raped by her uncle is forced by the government and the good people of this country to carry that child and give birth to that child and raise that child?

Dunno about you but that seems like a bigger sin.

Seems to me that its the womans choice to decide. Her friends and kinfolk ought to give her support and all the help she needs. But the governmetn and all those righteous strangers a thousand miles away ought to keep their #### noses out of it.
