Anyone been following the Rove/Plame issue?

Watch how the right-wing media & spinmeisters have been trying to switch the issue to discrediting Joseph Wilson, Plame’s husband, instead of the actual issue which was the identification of Valerie Plame as a “Agency [CIA] operative on weapons of mass destruction” (from Novak’s original article that started all this). Novak’s original article was attempting to discredit Wilson also.

The right-wing has tried to spin this one so many ways, I couldn’t begin to list them all (I will share more if anyone is interested). However, it now appears as though Rove was the one who presented her name to Newsweek. The President did indicate that anyone who leaked stuff like this would no longer be in his administration, despite what people on FOX news try to tell you.

Forget about Wilson, the issue is the leaking of Plame’s identity.

And watch how the left-wing starts rubbing their nipples in unison at the opportunity to scream about the right-wing. (yawn)

Don't you ever get tired of posting this political crap on a music/engineering forum?

Seriously, sometimes you're like a crack house in a good neighborhood - just an eyesore that's driving down the value of the surrounding property...

I’ll ask you politely - please stop posting in my threads (particularly when you don’t contribute or care about them) & I’ll stop posting in yours. Thanks.

I think he snuck her name out of the White House in her pants, if I am correct???

Oh wait, that was someone else…burger, burgler…whatever

And later tore her name up at his home - funny Clarke

The nice thing about stuff like this is most of America probably doesn’t pay any attention to it. The downside of this is they don’t pay much attention to what the Pres. actually said about Iraq, WMD, etc.

I wonder about this question sometimes. I know I have friends that think the same, but I wonder about other people…I never, ever, once cared if there was WMD or not. I was pissed that the first President Bush didn’t flatten Saddamn and I would have been 10000% behind Slick Willie going in.

What did you care about then? You wanted Saddam flattened for what reason? How about Iran & North Korea - do you want to flatten them too?

It’s a blip, nothing will come of it, most dems are too scared to speak out openly about it, and it’s not news unless someone says something about it. The next president will be a republican. :)

On the other hand, it involves some of the media’s own people, so they might get on the story in a big way. But so far it’s just a blip. :)

The rest of the world doesn’t care either.

Curious where you got this impression. This doesn’t support it.

Newsweek reported that nothing in the Cooper e-mail suggested that Rove used Plame’s name or knew she was a covert operative.

Here’s a direct quote from the President:

And if there is a leak out of my administration, I want to know who it is. And if the person has violated law, the person will be taken care of.

So no indication that Rove leaked a name and at this point, no indication that a law was violated. Let’s wait and see how it develops.

The potential. And yes, N.K and Iran scare the living daylights out of me too. We cannot let them go unchecked.

I suppose we will leave that up to the UN, huh?

I think Willy has the right attitude…

Another spin-meister was on PBS tonight saying it was Plame who sent Wilson to Niger which is a complete lie. Plame recommended her husband to the appropriate people in the CIA but it was the CIA that sent him.

Novak et al. has distorted things that Wilson has said ever step of the way to discredit. The press doesn’t even call them on it anymore.

I watched Bush talk about Rove today, with Rove right behind him. Rove had almost a smirk on his face. Rove will not go & I’m sure they go back to the Oval office after this press events & just laugh at the press (and at all of us), at how they’re doing what they want to do & no-one can or will stop them.

It’s a sad state of affairs in the US today.

While I appreciate your polite request, I'm afraid that it is akin to a crack dealer asking if he can "politely" continue his trade in your neighborhood.

Your obsessive extreme partisan political rants, diatribes, and rants and general name-calling ("right-wingers", etc...) that are inherent to every one of the political topics that you create are the equivalent of urban blight.

And, I'll remind you that this is a semi-public forum; if you don't want me to post, go start your own forum somewhere and ban me from posting there.

In the meantime, you've chosen this little place as your political soapbox. Why do you continually choose to post such divisive topics here? They say that the surest way to start an argument is to talk about religion or politics, and these are the topics that you choose to create (a new one every day?). One can only speculate that your intent is to somehow sabotage the good nature of this forum; as you did a year ago when half the board went to audiominds.com, mostly because of *you*. I remember… And that's probably why you bug me so much when you create these threads. WTF is your point anyway?

I asked you politely. I obviously can’t stop you from posting. You irritate me equally as much.

F*ck off John! This board is thriving, so why bring up old wounds? The guys from audiominds are welcome to come back here anytime. If their “good nature” is what you desire, then why don’t you go over there - you’ll be rid of me if you do. I’m done communicating with you.

Now back to the topic (sorry I was distracted). Wilson was on the TV again today & he was pretty forceful in his criticism of Bush/Rove. He said he is hopeful that the legal system will work for a resolution in this case.

For anyone who’s interested, this article accurately details how the right-wing media is attempting to distort the Wilson/Rove/Plame affair - Media repeated false GOP talking point on authorization for Wilson trip to Niger.

Media Matters is a great organization that is a watch dog over the media. I recently donated some money to their cause.

More on this

I’m not impressed. Media Matters is trying their best to make this look bad, but Wilson’s own words support what the alleged talking points suggest.

We do have proof that Wilson lied about his wife’s involvement in the trip, which is confirmed by the Senate Intelligence Report.

Here’s a link from the Washington Post:

Plame’s Input Is Cited on Niger Mission: Report Disputes Wilson’s Claims on Trip, Wife’s Role

ksdb - I’m shocked. I thought you cared about the media. The GOP talking points are full of falsehoods & the media matters article talks about this. If you can’t see that, then boy…

Wilson did NOT lie about his wife’s involvement. The media matters discusses this in detail. And why would he lie about such a trivial detail? You always need to ask yourself the obvious.

I’ve read the Senate intel report. No-where’s in it does it say that Wilson lied or even implies that he lied.

Prove your statements ksdb, because the issue of Wilson lying has been completely debunked. Your WP link doesn’t have any information in it that confirms that Wilson lied about anything. Read the article - it just re-states what’s in the Senate Report.

Why is it so hard for all of us to agree on what the truth is?
