BUMMER! I missed that one... Google found some info for me. *sigh*

UJ

Wow. Karn was just a few years older than I am.

And “Baker street” - I will always associate that album with my time working as a pump jockey. It was always on the radio. Liver failure. Horrible.

Stuck In The Middle, With You…
Great song…
I always connected that song with an American Front-and- Group…
Not even sure if it was Bob Dylan…
Did some other group in the States cover that song ????
Could have been Bob Dylan’s version…
We did more Charlie Pride, than Bob Dylan…
back then…
:p
He was a popular boy, in these parts…

Hi Bill,

Jeff Healey (the blind guitar player who played the guitar on is lap) covered the song too - but I don't think it's him you are thinking about. Jeff is also no longer with us.

I’ve got a DVD in my collection called Let It Rock…
Done live in Toronto to commemorate Ronnie Hawkins 60th Birthday…
Jerry Lee Lewis and Carl Perkins were but a few of the Blues Names that were invited to that stage…
Jeff Healey was there along with the Louisiana Blues Drummer…
I forget his name…
Isn’t that awful…
sigh…
One of the invited Bass Players was

You all know him…
First name ???? …
Last name Danko…
He’s not with us anymore…
:heart-break:

I’m gonna tell you…
This was a Blues Concert to END, All Blues Concerts…
It was Live, Real and with no inserts and all… They were all interviewed before-and-after the performance…
I’d like to tell ya the year it was recorded…
However, I am unable to remember, without playing it to see the credits…

I can tell you the energy on this stage came through on the DVD…
I know the energy of the concert was in the theater was certainly there…
There was no one sitting while the stage was active…

I just bring reference to Charlie Pride…
Cause we played with him on several different stages and he fronted us, as well, during those years…
One great entertainer, inmyopinion…

I’d sure like to know who the Bass Player was on this stage…
:)
:p

He has his fingers on the pulse of this stage… :)

Anyway…

Bill…

I didn’t like him.

:)
I KkNnOoWw..

Anyway, Jeff Healey could make any part of that Strat "Sing"..
How he was able to bend those strings while his guitar was on his lap is beyond my imagination..

I think I remember that Bass Player's name on that Let It Rock DVD..
His name was Rick Danko..

All the dust of Sunn Studios settled on Carl's Guitar..
He wore his Blue Suede Shoes the night of that Concert in Toronto..

Bill..

Bill..

Check out Healey in the movie "Roadhouse"....I was floored when I saw his technique.

I met Danko years ago when he was traveling with "The Band". Awesome dude.

That guy (Rick) is so laid back on that DVD I have…

If it weren’t for him and that Drummer I can’t remember his name, it just couldn’t happen…
Two built-in metronomes… AND…
In Sync…
on that stage…

The disipline just drips…

Why can’t I remember the Drummer’s name…
????
????
????

:heart-break:

Bill…

[edit] He’s from Louisiana…

Oh yes.
And his way of playing opened up lots of different possibilities.

I had the fortune of seeing him live about 15 years ago - and it was quite a small gig too.
A total highlight.

I cheated…

:disagree:

I opened that DVD up and discovered his name…
Levon Helm…
Anyway, I feel better…
Levon and Rick played together in a Group called The Band Unlimited…
Gonna Play the DVD Again…
When these guys are all gone who’s gonna know how the Blues was played…
????

Yeah, wasn't so keen on the Jonny Kidd and the Pirates thing, but I really liked The Pirates when they re-emerged in, what '76, '77? Kinda power R&B.

Big Star is the single greatest band ever on the face of the planet ever. 1st 2 albums. Amazing. I never travel far without a little Big Star.
