Fender Deluxe TV Tweed Amp

I have an offer on this…

Hi Gents:

Over the past few weeks have uncovered a Fender Deluxe TV Amp…
I am looking into the year VIA the serial number data sheet…
Serial number data sheet… to check it’s date…

The amp looks like this one…
This one…
However, I’d have to say the one I’m looking at looks like it has never been out of the closet… I’d like to get some photos of it…
It looks too good to be true…

There are several demos of this amp on YouTube…
Here’s one

Without removing the back cover panel, the amp shows a Jensen 12" P12R original speaker…
I’d like to see what chassis Number it has…
They made two models…
a 5A3 and a 5B3
I don’t think it matters much…
One could be rewired to be either…
I am gonna offer $600.00 for this amp…
That’s if all the internal pieces of the amp are original…
We’ll see…

Anyway, I’m still looking and ready to do the deal on the Ampeg Portaflex Bass Amp…

Bill…

Sweet lookin’ amp. :)

If I could buy a new amp today, I think I’d buy myself a Reissue Deluxe Reverb. 22W, 1x12… Loved those things back in the day…

UJ

That is a neat video. Is 600 a good price?

Hi Gents:

I wish I were a better Buyer-and-Seller…
I’ve seen many old amps, over the years…,
Being around the Musicstop way back when, I’d see this stuff come through the door…
Guys wanting to trade/sell/trade up and get stuff that their Uncles used to use, when they played…
I’d end up being the guy that placed value upon all this stuff…
well, I’d add my .02 to the deal…
I even had some of this stuff…
My judgement(s) had quite an influence on the value of this stuff as to weather it should be traded or kept within the families…

I’d love to have one of those Wurlitzer Portable Pianos…
You know the model… I forget… the one with the reed bars… if you hit the key too hard you’d fracture the reed and the note would go Flat…
Then you’d have to replace the reed bar… There are VSTi samples, out there, but they are only close to the real piano, thing…
Same as, the Hammond B3 machine…

At 600.00, I don’t think I’d be ripping the Shop Owner off…
I know he ripped the guy off that he bought it from…
Too bad…
It looks too new to have been used on the stage…
Could be, there’s something wrong with it…
I am unable to find it on E-Bay or Amazon…
??? there has to be a way to value it…
However, I don’t know… You could easily spend 100.00 on tubes and 100.00 on parts to restore the chassis, let alone the speaker to bring it back to original…
The only thing it has going for it is, it’s condition and appearance… When I first saw it I thought it was a knock-off…
:p

Bill…

[edit]
Ii KkNnOoWw…
a black faced Deluxe Reverb is a collector’s amp and the real thing, to use in front of a studio mic…
The only two pedals you need to go with your setup is a Boss Distortion and a Boss Digital Delay, the latest version pedal…
Maybe, a Flanger ?

I’m gonna take a trip over to that Buy/Sell Shop tomorrow…
Take some photos of that amp and confirm the manufacture date from the serial number…
It’s gonna be tough to walk away from that shop without the amp, if it’s a Classic/Vintage Amp… I have no doubt that it isn’t…

My poor pocketbook…
:)
???

Bill…

Buy it. You only go around once, and it is a special amp.

I am an enabler.

I say start the offer lower…like $500, you can always land at 600, but if you start there you got no head room.

MY pops would love that, don’t get me wrong he loves my MEsa’s too, but those Fender amps were purposefully made proprietary to work with his guitar of choice, (the Fender Strat 70’s reissue).

O.K.
Guys..
I got it all figured out..
I'll stay away from the joint till I get you all plane tickets to come in here and we'll land at the shop and threaten him to give us the amp..
OR...

we'll trash his place and take it anyway..

Then we'll all write a song using the amp on the tracks thanking him for the gesture..
and post it up on YouTube..
Give him a nickel's worth of free advertising..
Like this guy..

Anyway, I admit I don't, I don't market deal well..
Just back me up till my nose bleeds..
and my pocketbook runs outta money..
:)

Bill..

I'll tell him I can't pay any less than 200.00 loonies..
SoLvEd..

:agree:

I really love that song.

So, you are going down today to get it, right?

The phone call just came in…
My life-long Buddy is gonna deal on my behalf for the amp…
He’s the guy that has the Guitar/Amp collection in his Basement Studio…

Here’s some photos of that day…I didn’t get that bass I was looking at…
Maybe, some day ???? EH…?

This character,(Bob) has a collection Of Amps, To-Die-For…

:agree:
:)
to go with his Instrument Collection

Bill…

IS that a Fender Tele 1968? or a newer remake?

Hi jeremysdemo:

I wish I could tell with all certainty… However, I would say it’s the real thing…
I could call him and ask the question…
My first response would be to say it’s the original thing…
Like that Harmony Bass on the far left-hand side of the photo…
We updated the wiring on that bass earlier in the summer…
The story on that bass is…
The Canadian group the Stampeders, used that bass for their early recordings…
That goes back to the mid-to-late '60’s…
Bob is a close friend of those guys… He goes out on many of their tours…
After all the years in the business, they (their Fans) and (the Stampeders) are still as old-and-popular as they were back then…

I’ll tell you another thing…
If you were in the Bar Room Business and you didn’t cover their material, you’d be Booed…
Big Time…

Back to that Fender Deluxe TV Amp…

I’m sorry to inform you that after visiting that Buy/Sell Shop earlier this afternoon…
The amp is no longer available

(For Sale)…
I didn’t want to influence the sale… I stayed away from the shop…
Bob went in to question it’s availability and he was told it was no longer there…
SsIiGgHh… BIG Time…
:heart-break:
:)

I had 600.00 loonies in my pocket… to close the deal…

Bill…

You snooze you loose Bill,

You gotzta strike while the iron is hot, and you’re too nice for your own good, “didn’t want to influence the sale.”…some other guy probably could care less and he walked away with it! :p

Is that what you call the dollar up there? loonies…is the currency exchange that bad!

Hi jeremysdemo:

There’s more to this story than what’s in these threads…

The amp is still in the shop…
It’s in the back room waiting for me to come in and lay out the cash…
A deal has been made on my behalf for 750.00 loonies…
However, I see it as being more than I will pay for it…

The amp is in too good an appearance to believe it doesn’t need some restoration…
If the amp worked during it time, it would have glass rings and smoke burns on the tweed and the covering would have it’s corners beat up and all…
The handle stitching would be worn-and-maybe torn…
You Know…
?
I never got to see to chassis yet…
The tell-tale signs there would be tubes not original miss-matched and the like…
The inside would be replaced resistors and caps and poor soldering and workmanship…

The more I think about it, I never did see that amp, on any of my benches…
That doesn’t mean to say it never seen any service…
Having said that, it must have never seen a stage…
locked away in some one’s closet… OR, it came into this area from some other part of the country…

Is it HOT ????
who knows ?

Is the family converting their uncle’s possessions into money ?
Did the guy who owned it need money?
The shop owner knows ,
maybe…

If I buy it, I’m gonna be part of the story…
I don’t want to begin with having to spend a few hundred into it’s restoration…
Tubes and electronics and all…
The cabinet ain’t gonna need much…
The electronics is easy, for me me, well…

I like deals as well as anyone…

I’d say the shop owner paid 100.00 for it…
maybe…
I don’t think there’s anyone in his market area, including rich kids that would pay 750.00
for it
or even 500.00 as long as I don’t tell all the musicians that I know, it’s there and could be had…

Somehow-or-other, I think it’s me who is setting the value and price on this amp, over here…
I think I’m shootin myself in the foot, trying to pick this amp up…

On another note, we went into the old Musicstop, now, Long and McQuade and saw this Lunchbox Amp
A thousand loonies plus 15% sales tax will take it outta the shop…
Traynor makes one… VOX makes one… It’s a toss-up which of the three is better… I like the Traynor… All of them… Well…

Do you see ????
They call it “FENDER Like”…
hehehe…

I know, You guys know…
It’s not the guitar or the amp… It’s how the player attacks his instrument and where he sets the knobs on his amp…
Well…

Bill…

[edit]
As you are all aware, the canucks minted a coin to replace the dollar bill…
It looks like a slug of Gold…
BUT…
it ain’t… just cheap metal…
the back is minted with a loon swimming on a lake…
SO…
all the canucks call it a LOONIE…
:)
Just another coin to ware holes in your pant’s pockets…

And what do Canadians say about the back of the “twonie”? (or is that “toonie”?) I understand that the front has the queen, and the back…

Someone on Ebay thinks it’s wroth a whole lot of money - ridiculous!

http://cgi.ebay.com/1949-Fe…4539fa7

Well the guitars from that era are ridiculously priced as well,

that Fender Tele 68, depending on condition, can go up to $10,000, so if you want the amp to go a long with it, $3000 is not that unreasonable, people who collect vintage gear or have the money to burn will pay it.
Some rich kid from the burbs who thinks the gear is going to make or break their band chances…
just ask your dad (Bill Gates) for the money
:agree:

a lot less expensive than the car they got when they were 16.
:)

My first car was 25 bucks. Pinto. Army green. Drove it around for a year, sold it for $100. It was the beginning of a very successful entreprenureal life. Also, the end of it.

ALso I wanted to add…

I have seen Fender Deluxe Tweed guitar CASES of the time period (68) go for what they are asking for this amp.
