Hi Guys,
I’m feeling a little uncomfortable with the latest round of “Soul” bashing. I have had my disagreements with Mike also in the past and have found him to be a bit overbearing (aren’t we all a little guilty of this?) at times, but the guy is leaving and I find it to be in bad taste to kick a dying horse. I say good luck to Mike and may he find a place that welcomes him and his views.

Mike; Soul is not leaving, nor has he left. Whatever gave you the idea that he did?
He is hanging around, reading posts and responding to them, and no doubt, once he has gotten over his sulks, he will be back in all his glory.
However, when he does return, one only hopes that he might have learned a few things.
Firstly: don’t hog the forum. It’s here equally for us all to use.
Secondly: READ the responses to your posts. And that means thinking about what others have said too. If you raise a point, and you don’t like the answer, then don’t ignore it. If
you wanted it ignored, you shouldn’t have raised it in the first place.
Thirdly: Just because someone disagrees with you does not automatically make them wrong, nor an idiot, nor a “right wing extremist”.
And finally Mike, I am not kicking a dying horse. I’ve said nothing on here since Toke “left” that I didn’t say directly to him when he was still posting regularly. I take the piss out of him no more now than I did then. And to repeat, he’s still here. He knows that, and I know that.
Well, I miss Toker. things were a lot more lively when he was posting regularly.
I also miss Limey.

I hope Soul-dude does not write the place off altogether. The above pretty much sums up what I would like for Soul-dude to keep in mind though. I don’t neccesarily agree or disagree with his posts all the time but I often feel like any discussion from my side of the coin is like pissin’ in the wind. (He sticks to his guns that’s for d@$# sure! That’s not necessarily a bad thing… but sheesh…)
If anything I’m a middle of the road moderate type yet I often get slapped with the Republican “right-winger” crap. I think mostly because of Christian views. Wazzup with that? I said it before, if the Dems throw a viable candidate into the ring, Yee-Ha! If they don’t, oh well…

I agree Tim, I’d be happy if Mike returned. I’d be happy if Pete, John, Jhohan,Teej, etc., etc. returned too; and even, (clenches teeth) Mac. 
Limey too Tom, both the original Limey and the recent pseudo-Limey (although, that one’d really have to improve his Cockney and knowledge of the London recording scene to be credible).
But hey! We all post crap at times, that’s humanity for you.
But if we are going to post crap, then we have to be mature enough to accept that others are going to take the piss.
If we’re stupid enough to unleash our thoughts and feelings to public scrutiny, then we also have to be thick-skinned enough to read and think about the responses we get.
So, welcome back everyone who’s gotten pissed off by what others have said to them.
But, my heart ain’t bleeding over Toke’s little sulk. My response to my kids when they were young was to either ignore that behaviour, or to laugh at them. So, let them sulk all they want; they’ll get hungry eventually.
Anyway, for what it’s worth (not much), that’s the way I feel about this.
Sorry Ali, my post wasn’t meant to you personally. It just seemed like there was a growing snowball of Toker insults and I felt like enough was enough. You are probably right about him coming back and a little humble pie is good for everyone at times.

I appreciate my friends thinking of me. I’ve only looked at this thread, so I’m as good as gone. I don’t feel anything when I come here anymore & I don’t feel like starting any more threads, so you can rejoice.
For the record - I’m not Narcissist. I don’t think I’m better than anyone else.
I got a kick out of Willy’s comments & links to the past. And you can’t start a forum over night. If you want to discuss politics or anything else, you come over to Pete’s place.
Mike, you’re as welcome as anyone.
Feel free to take the piss out of me as much as you want; for I will do the same to you, and to anyone else who seems like a good target at that particular moment in time.

If you’re talking about this forum, it’s called “Anything Else” so ANYONE can post off-topic posts. If you are talking about Pete’s forum that he lets me use, then I don’t understand you.

No, I was just agreeing with you actually, sorta. It’s like anything else in life - anything that’s big and sucessful started off small, somewhere. Then as it gets bigger and better, the sucess pulls new people in, some who want to be part of it, some who want the credit for it, some who just want to further their own agenda. And every now and again you get someone who walks in thinking they own the place and need to be corrected.
It’s like the karate dojo I run with a couple of other black belts. Sure, we’ve got a school of around 80 students, 15 blackbelts, with 6 National, 11 Victorian, 6 South Australian and 2 NSW state champions (and even more 2nd and 3rd place getters) that is probably the 2nd or 3rd biggest dojo in Australia (out of 70+ in the organisation) and everyone knows us, but not that many people know of the work that went into it when there was only five of us there five years ago…
I seriously hope that your forum becomes a sucessful politics discussion forum, I just didn’t (and still don’t) think that it was appropriate to spam this an established, sucessful forum. And spam it was.

So if I understand you correctly, I shouldn’t have mentioned my forum here? If that’s what you are saying, it’s not spam because I’m a regular here, plus this is an off-topic forum, plus the forum was created by someone that everyone knows. It would be spam if I just posted here w/o ever having posted here.
Kingfish - come on back to my other forum. I agree that it’s not great that Pete censored your post but it’s his site & he was offended by something you said. I know it was something about Mac but since I didn’t actually see your post, I can’t really comment on what you actually said.

Announcing your forum here is fine because yeah, you are a regular here and some people might have an interest in it and/or you. If you were a first time poster and that “you had a new unrelated to recording forum” was your first ever post then that could be considered spam, as would be porn or pirated software links.
My point, which you seem to have missed completely, is that you jumped into a sucessful forum, caused a stir which brought the “anything else” into existence to protect the main forum, and then proceeded to spam the crap out of that too.
I don’t give a rat’s arse that you’ve announced your new forum here. I have no issues with that at all.
If your posts were more like “Republicans to tax musical creativity” then I’d say they would be more on topic…
