One Sick Sax

How I spent Saturday night

A local sax player has been wanting to do some recording, and though I’ve never recorded anything like that before, I was definitely wanting to give it a shot. This wasn’t the most melodic thing attempted, but I like it for some strange reason.

I gave him a ride to the bus station in Manchester after work Sunday, but when he gets back from Denver in a week or two, we’ll see what else we can come up with. (He works as a “stage hand” for some company here in Tennessee, and apparently those democratic convention goers require a lot of entertainment.)

Kneel or Run

heard Bono might make an appearance,
So did you record it? I love good sax (as bad as that sounds)
I mean I put Stan Getz right up there with my favorite
musical geniuses.

This is cool Kev, I likes it! :)

Just a nit pick,
1. something is breaking up in the mix (distorted a little) not sure what it is. Could just be the mp3 (I HATE MP3s)
2. Maybe a hint of reverb on the sax ? ? ?

Dude you could score some movies with this! :)

yes, i think you must rise a little the sax in some parts (compression?), an a little more work in the mix. The idea is great.

Pro= 80%.

Whoa Kev - I missed the play button in your post - sorry.
That’s a raging sax in there.
The recording is good. Mix needs some tweak.
Other stuff overpowered the sax (the ahh’s).
The synth pattern needs to be not too repetitive.
and tamed a little. (my opinion)
But I’m sure you all were just kicking it around.
Anyway - nice job. :)

Thanks for the comments and constructive criticism. To quote a famous Canadian n-Tracker, “I’m learning as fast as I can”

Yaz, I have a friend who is constantly trying to line up placements and such for me, though I don’t remember a call for anything like this…lol. He recently had a song in an episode of Saving Grace, among other similar things through the years, so I’m definitely thankful for his help on the business end of things. Now if I can just keep up my end of the deal.

Hey Seven, is your nickname a birth order reference? If so, I’m OneOfEight.

Hi kevinmyers:

I keep saying this…
I KkNnOoWw…
I really have to break down and get a Hi-Speed connection to the Internet… If I don’t…
soon my hearing will have left me and I wouldn’t be able to hear it, even if I wanted to…
( My Mother…
She’s 91 years…
She’s deaf in one ear and can’t hear with the other one…)
I believe I have that fabric built into me…
I know I’m missing some very creative music that is going on up here…
Not just this Board but cyber space is full of music…

I’m gonna open your link and have a listen… it takes a long time for me to Buffer music files, to be able to listen, to it…

I spent some time up-and-down the road near where you call home…
Hwy. 101… between the I-40 and I-24 … (around the Sparta area… and…
McMinnville and Franklin off I-65)… I have friends who live in-and-around that area…
of TN…
The year I was there, it was blistering hot…
The mid morning temperatures were 105 deg’s.
We don’t get those temperatures over here where I live…
We just aren’t built to endure that…

Bill…

Bill,

Do it! You really are missing a lot. There has been some superb original music on this forum recently.

Broadband versus heating oil… buy a few blankets! Go for the Broadband! LOL… :p

I’m still tryin’ to get rich Bill, so’s I can pop for that BB connection for you… I hope neither of US expire before then…

Sorry I’m late but I liked this one, very unique, good blend of the electric foundation and sax lead sound, Good one!

I opened that link kevinmyers:
It sounds O.K. to me… If you up the Sax in the mix I think it might take away from the Electronica Music Style/Flavor… He’s a nice Sax Player…

The song streamed in Lo-Fi better than I imagined… it would…

Hi Gents:

I got three USB WiFi units to connect to the Server Storage Machine I’m planning to build for my LAN Setup…
I know there gotta be some one in my neighbourhood that has a bunch of kids and is LAN’ing there computers together along with Hi-Speed and their kids computers…
BUT… I haven’t been able to connect to any wireless networks yet…

I’m working on it…
though…

Here’s what the Server (I connect to) is working on…

Wireless node Setup

There are some nodes in my neighbourhood but I am beyond the range by a few blocks…
I think I’m gonna hang my USB Wireless Adaptor out the window and see if I can pull-it-in…

We’ll see…

To live around here yea gotta be a millionare…
I’m workin’ on that toooo…

I hear you Bill. Just the other day a guy was pissing and moaning that our electric rates were going up a few percent. Now look... I don't wanna pay any more than I have to right? But I opened the guys eye-balls for him and showed him how we have the lowest electricity rates in the whole country. Despite their occasional short sightedness, TVA (Tennessee Valley Authority) has done a pretty decent job for us Tennessee Valley folks... We're blessed in these here parts yet folks whine and moan like a buncha spoiled six year-olds...

I can't wait for TVA to restart construction on the nuclear plant up the road here. Five-legged turtle and two-headed fish anyone? LOL...

That Hwy that runs between I-24 and I-40 is 111 NOT 101… Sparta is just off that highway…
