Can’t get the intro file to download, will try later.
Was listening to D’s “Hippie 60/70’s” licks and my hair grew out 2 1/2 ft. LOL. Cool Licks D!
Now what to do with 2 1/2 ft of gray hair?
Sweet. I’ll pull that mix off of Motagator then. Who do you guys suggest for file hosting? The problem with Motagator is it’s really a site to host and showcase completed works rather than bits and pieces…
D
Hi D, we’ve been posting everything at Mediafire. Links for all the parts in back posts.
Edit: It’s doesn’t seem to be working here this am, maybe it’s me or my machine, hit freezing mark here this morning, maybe the reason for everything froze up. LOL
OK bud… I’ll get setup on Mediafire… as soon as I get to work. I have to do SOMETHING productive on company time no? LOL!
BTW… are you guys Reaping this? I have all but abandoned good ol’ n-Track. The reason I ask is if you are using Reaper and stick to the bundled FX swapping the project file back and forth would be easy so everybody can stay in the same overall “mix”. Just a thought…
D
I PM ya D
T, I looked at the mix I did, I think I lost the keyboards too much, guitars too hot in places, too much compression on the bass, and I did use a limiter on master(GOOD CALL), maybe we could start with your mix, post the song file for the mix, I’ll download and see what you’ve got going, any changes I’ll save as seperate song file and post. Maybe easier to see what the other does. What do you think? We could stay with bundle plugs only so no missing plugs or what not.
Yaz
Footnote, 31degress here this morning, bones hurting already, getting old ain’t I.
I pulled that mix guys. I’m off to get setup at Mediafire and to download all the bits.
Thanks,
D
Sounds good D, check to see if you can get the intro solo to download, the last link T posted.
T, everything else starts the download ok, just guitar solo you posted last won’t open for me to download, keep getting error page.
I’m off to mow the grass, for the last time this year I hope.
Nope. That one won’t download… I get the following…
The connection has timed out

Apparently, the file containing the intro that I uploaded is corrupt. Try this

Why the heck can’t you edit pages that you’ve posted. I have to leave the bad link above, because I can’t edit it.
T
That link works T.
Shame you can only edit posts here like 30 seconds after posting, if you leave the forum and come right back, no edit!
Who invented yard mowing? Would I like to give 'em a piece of my mind!
Hmmm, wonder what the wife and neighbors would think of goats??? Cows maybe?
Naaahhhh what am I thinking, then I gotta do the milking chores!
OK guys… I have all the files… I think. Lessee what pops out…
D
Guys, I stuck a teeny little guitar part on to reinforce a “hit” is about all the guitar I could get out last night. I spent the rest of my time getting familiar with the song and doing a “remix” with all bundled Reaper plugins just to see… anyway, I posted the mix here… HERE
It’s full fidelity 16/44.1 so it IS kind big… I’ll work on some guitars as soon as I can.
D
Details, Details, Details, can ya give me some details on that mix, it sounds great! How did you get the bass to sound like that? Love what you did with T’s vocal too. Details man, details!
Gonna axe the solo I did D, we’ll split it.
what do you think Mr. T?
Ugh… I’m not at my main DAW now Yaz. I think it’s something like this…
Lead Gtr - 30 ms JS delay
Piano_All - ReaFir in EQ mode tweak until happy? + ReaComp
Bass - Stillwells JS Eventhorizon (or ReaComp?) plus ReaFir in EQ mode
Vox - Stillwells JS "Ozzifier"
Master - ReaVerb with Good ol’ Verb impulse (from some website?) Stillwells JS Louderizer - Schwa’s outstanding Psycho-dither set for 16 bit.
I’m going from memory and probably have some of it wrong. The exercise was mostly for me I guess… I finally have a full song WITH a vocal I could try an ALL Reaper plugin mix out on. Personally, and not taking any credit myself because you guys already have excellent tracks to work with, I think it sounds freakin’ awesome. Done with 40 bucks worth of DAW software and FX. It’s a GREAT time to be a recording musician man…
The bass? The compression certainly helps… but I found the “sweet spot” by dropping ReaFir on there and sweeping the bands around until I had the bottom where I wanted and put some high-mids in for punch. I LOVE ReaFir man! (Err… no, not REEFER… never touch the stuff) LOL!
D
PS Drum track has LOSER’s 4 band EQ and Eventhorizon on it I think… I would LOVE to have separate drum tracks to play around with!! Are they on discrete tracks somewhere?
PPS BTW, the reason for the Psycho-dither on the master? Because that way I can get it sounding just like I want in Reaper and render the Master to 16/44.1 and drop it right on a CD. No muss, no fuss and sounds great. Every DAW’r in the world needs to give Schwa’s Psycho-dither a shake IMO. I DID load the track in Audition and apply a Fade-In. Didn’t touch anything else though… The fade-in coulda been done easy enough in Reaper but I had already shut it down AND I use Audition for authoring CD’s. So it was already in there and I thought hmm… maybe a fade-in?
Wow! That is a great mix D. I love the ideas you and Yaz are bringing out.
I will sit at the feet of the masters and contemplate…

EDIT: Oh yeah the drum tracks. D, the tracks were created using the Addictive Drums demo. It is an absolutely wonderful freebie program. When you build a drum track using AD, the drum track information is saved as midi file, which I can easily post. If you’ve not tried AD, you oughta download it anyway. If you do, I’m quite sure that you will be able to route the audio output for each drum to a separate track. Alternatively you can tweak each drums sound from within AD or you can tweak the midi file. The flexibility and simplicity of the AD system is amazing to me.

Heh... you're being modest T. I've heard your stuff.

This is quite fun! I get extremely bored sittin' around working on my tired old stuff. You guys are good therapy! Where's Bruffie? His lyrics and the music you guys have going are the "meat" here. Good stuff IMO.
I can't wait to see if I can put some worthy guitar stuff in there. I'll try to keep up with Yaz. (He's being modest too.)
D
Hey guys, I’m blown away here!!!
D, send me the Rpp, I’ve gotta see how you did that. Modesty runs deep in you guys, T has written some great music and put down some great tracks. D steps in with a mix that blew my socks off. Take the lead guitar I submitted and toss it out. Anxious to hear D’s pickin’. Oh and T, D and I have come up with a formula sorta, to split off the leads. Hope I can sit with the “Masters” in the same room! I’m not even hoping for sitting st the feet, maybe in the closet adjoining the room!
OK Diogenes, here is the midi file for the drums. Have at it.

eYUP!
Watching this thread with interest. You guys are doing great
