Stories for Yaz

Glad to hear from ya Bruffie! How did you post here using a piece of fruit? LOL!

D, holy moly, what don't fit Mr. Fast Fingers! This sounds great. You got anything for the outro? :agree: And D, will you post the solo so I can download? Or maybe after you add to the end.

The tremolo is one T programmed D, hang on a sec, I'll find the link to it.

Sir T's Tremolo

Edit, can't wait to hear what Bruffie brings, this tune is getting to be AWSUM!

AH-HAAA! THAT JS tremolo effect... I remember seeing that and thinking "Man I need to grab that." Then it slipped through the gray matter... Oh well, I got it now and will try it out when I get home this evening. Someday, I'd like to squeeze in the time to try my hand at some JS effects myself. Ain't enough hours in the day...

How do the drums sound to you? I tweaked the ol' EQ a bit to give the kick a little more THUMP.

Yo' T? Do you think you could use the "Glue" function in Reaper to glue the whole MIDI drum track together and then open it in the Reaper MIDI editor and export it? Then if you'll post it up I'll load it in Addictive Drums here and program some fills, toms etc. I really like the groove and would like to keep it. It certainly fits well. Good choice IMO!

I played around with the outro a bit. I want to play the same thing but harmonized up the neck a tad. I couldn't get it under my fingers good enough so I decided to practice it a bit. I'm awfully rusty... I use to play all the time, a couple or three times a week at church and pretty much every evening at home but life get's in the way... That's why this song "speaks" to me I think.

Good to hear from Bruffie. Where is it he hails from? Dubai or some exotic place like that? I forget...

Blackberry internet fruit? Sheesh, next thing you know we'll be able to watch DVD's in High Def on a Grapefruit.

I'll see about posting the file's this evening Yaz.

Wait a sec, TYT = TITE,

hmmm, could be TIT.

If we go with TIT, we'll need 4 more musicians with the intials of H-I-N-D !

On your feet, or on your knees, here they are the amazing

"HIND TYT" :agree:

EDIT, was that over the top?

Heh... :D

Continuing this name thang...

If we add Bruffie we would have BYTT right? Now we get Mike and Ed to join us...

Our legion horde if rabid fans would be chanting "BYTT ME!" "BYTT ME!" ROFLOL!!! :agree:

D

R-O-F-L-M-A-O

BYTT ME!!!

Too much…

Yep Bruffie hails from Dubai, saw a PBS special on Dubai couple weeks ago. Wowsers, looks like the richest place on the face of the earth. Man I couldn’t believe the construction going on there. Creating little man made islands to build high rise resort hotels and condos. It was un-believable.

Will look for the wave later this evening D, or tomorrow if you don’t get the time. Tis cool!

BYTT ME…ROFLMAO :agree:

The drums sound great D.

How did the AD drum midi export file look when you loaded it? I assumed that you WOULD get a single contiguous file.

I will glue all the pieces together and re-post tonight.

If were really on stage, I'm afraid that the crowd might get dangerously carried away with the "BYTT ME" chant. Whoa... the image that comes to mind is not pretty.

T

Hi ya’ T,

The MIDI clip I got the other day was only 3 measures. See…

…so I assume maybe that is the intro loop only. The MIDI editor in Reaper will export the individual item so you have to glue the whole thing. It’s kind of nuisance but like a lot of stuff in Reaper, it also affords a buttload of flexibility. No rush… I’m having a ball playing with what I have! Do you guys agree it would be cool though to have some crashes here and there and maybe a few tom rolls? I promise to NOT make it sound like a 4 arm drummer though! LOL. I know you’ve heard some tracks before and thought "How the heck did he play that??? Dude must have four arms!"

D

Definitely go for some for crashes and rolls. I was too lazy to do it myself, not to mention the fact that about the only thing I know about drums is that you hit em.

T

Go for it D, just keep it down to 4 Neil Perts please! :)

Ok, so if I download the drum demo, the midi clip you posted, will I be able to see how this is done? I have no midi skills, er, well I did have a few lesson with midi skirts. :agree:

I’m at home guys. The wife has to work late so I stole a minute to install the AD demo on my DAW box. I have it up and running and I must say it works very well with Reaper! I am looking forward to getting the full MIDI file to mess with. This is gonna be SWEET!

D

D and Yaz

Here is the complete Addictive Drums midi file. This time I checked.

Complete AD drum midi file

The only bad thing about gluing the drum loops together is that you can’t tell which loops I used. If you want to find other loops that are from the same ‘family’, look for beats that have the word ‘swing’ in their names. If you have the demo in the play mode, simply clicking on the loop name auditions it. To put the loop into the song just click on the name, drag it to the place you want it in a track, and drop it there. That’s how easy it is. You can figure out the rest.

T

SCHWING!

Got it T! That’s it… perfect. Now if I can get time to work on it. I loaded the MIDI file and fed it to AD. All working good. Now to take care of the routing and try adding a few things here and there.

Thanks!

D

Hi Guys,

Took the chance to borrow a few minute on someone elses pc.

T… all four verses are here. Let me know if you need anything else. I’ll be connected at home on the 6th November.

Frustrating cos I can’t hear the results to date.

Cheers…Ian

While I'm sitting here
It seems to me so clear
That I've burst my musical bubble
When the schemes and themes
That inspired my dreams
Disappeared in the daily trouble
Of this high speed world
Where my minds in a whirl
Of frustration and daily pain
Now my smile has gone
And my outlooks moved on
From the sunshine to the rain

I'm just a musical void
With a muse that's devoid
Of the major key to my life
But give me a hand
And I'll march with the band
And turn my back on this strife
So play me your song
And before very long
I'll pick up my guitar and I'll strum
And when the music's returned
Then I've finally learned
That it's more than just rattle and hum

Now, it's getting kind of late
But you'll just have to wait
For me to bend your musical ear
The songs my reward
But I'm hardly a bard
There's no work of art coming here
But please don't despair
This song we can share
And shout it out if you're feeling bold
Use my words if you must
In the tune put your trust
To bring you in from the artistic cold

At the end of the day
It's just a musical play
To bring back the melody of life
If your' ageing bones
Won't respond to the tones
Then the music's no longer alive
But pick up your guitar
And play the first bar
And face up to the crowd, proud and tall
Because one thing's for certain
At life's final curtain
The song ends too soon for us all

Hey Bruffie,

Very cool. You had said that you had an “Ian Anderson thing” in mind earlier. I’d like to hear what you had going in your head. And I’ve assumed from the beginning that you would sing the last two verses. Perhaps that is not feasible with you moving though. Just let us know how much or how little you want to do. I think that you will like what we have done with the original song idea.

T

Hello Guys,

I’m back online. I feel quite sad at missing the fun on this one, but I have to say that I’ve downloaded the various mixes and the latest version is sounding awesome!!

T. I would have loved to have contributed some of the vox but I’m not sure that I can add anything to what you’ve already done. I’ll maybe sing it through and send you the file and you can add whatever you want from it. I don’t have an ego, so feel free to use as much or as little as you want :) Is that ok with you?

Diogenes. Glad you came on board. The last mix you posted was brilliant. The drum sound is great and the whole groove of the song is working extremely well. Some tasty guitar work.

Yaz. Well, the words were inspired by you and I’ve heard your various contributions as the beast developed. I’m amazed how well it’s come together. Congratulations to one and all.

If I do end up singing part of it…does that make the Band…TITY?? The T-Shirts should sell well. I can hear the crowd chanting ’ We want Tity’

Guys… Thanks for doing with the words so much more than I imagined,
Cheers…Ian

THE BRUFF-MEISTER IS BAAAACCKKK!

Hi Bruffie,

Everything go OK with the move? I hope you and yours are doing well.

I am really having a blast working on this tune. Some excellent lyrics and music… got to end up awesome. I mentioned earlier that the words really struck a chord with me too. The muse is a fickle thing…

Well back to work…

D

Welcome Back Bruffie!

Time to jump on in and join the fun! My muse blew a fuse! LOL

Oh, that’s definatly gonna be my new signature “My muse blew a fuse”

Cheers Guys!!

Stunning work and if I can pull off any Vox to add that I think are worthy, I’ll post them on Friday as a wave on Mediafire.
The move went ok. Here’s a couple of pics from the Apartment window (talking of construction)

Hey Bruffie, thanks for the pics. That place is something else.

Correct me if I’m wrong, but I think they (PBS special) showed an indoor mountain slope with snow skiing, chair lift and all? That was awsum!

Yup!

Ski Dubai.... 45deg outside and -1deg inside. It's about 10 minutes from where I live. They're also building the worlds tallest building, an underwater Hotel and a group of artificial islands in the shape of a map of the world.
The place has gone nuts!!

Cheers,
Ian

I saw the tallest building and the islands in the shape of the world.
Lot’s o money pouring in there eh?
