Hi TomS and All n-Trackers:
This studio and production facility should be available to all n-Track Board Users…
There’s lots of wiring and assembly yet to get it up-and-running to equal what I think could be it’s potential…
The only time I had a mic opened up in the room was when I sent ange and Rob a wedding congratulations to them via Poppa Willis…
I thought I would get a file return from ange and Rob to see if the file contained any merit…
However, the file was a gift to them, and, not to check the file’s Return Behaviour…
But, it sure would be nice to play with some tracks to get a feel for the room and it’s potential…
Way back when, it was thought the room may or may not have tracking abilities…
That remains to be seen…
The room still needs to be explored for mixing and mastering capabilities…
I’m sure having fun waisting time out here…
Bill…
A BIG ‘NICELY’ to you, Bill. It’s coming along great and you’ve begun to sound like you are wasting the kind of time that gives you that enthusiasm for doing tunes.
Great stuff.
Hi Today, Gents:
I went looking for the Studio Blog and found this thread…
It’s not the one I was looking for, though…
There appears to be another one somewhere…
However, I don’t know what the topic/title, is/was…
Anyway, I’ll bring this one forward…
I’ve been working on this DJ Booth in the studio…
It’s gonna inter-connect with the Studio operation(s)…
I’ve run some I/O lines to connect the DJ Booth with the Hill Console so transferring audio In-and-Out of (The DJ Booth) will be possible…
I need to build a computer to edit video and audio at the DJ Desk as well I need to decide an acceptable signal path(s) for the audio and video I/O lines to and from the computer…
Anyway most of the hardware is there and working…
For anyone interested in what the DJ Desk/Setup looks like…
The
Photo Blog
has been updated to show the DJ Desk-and-Setup…
Over the next little while there may be layout refinements…
maybe…
We’ll see…
I’m surprised at how nice the setup sounds and looks, so far…
That’s just my opinion…
It’s beginning to take shape…
Bill…
Have you ever considered hosting a show call “Pimp Yo’Studio” ? You only need a backer
If I had money I would get you started
Hi Levi:
Believe it or not…
That is happening over here…
However, doing that requires a commitment and time that can get in the way…
I’d think about doing promotion interview/packages for musicians wanting to promote their business…
I’d just need to add and setup a few mics in the DJ Desk…
Anyway, something to think about…
Bill…
Great Pics Bill
Hi n-Trackers:
I’m back at it…
I have updated the studio photo blog again…
The weather is getting better…
The temperature is in the mid-to-upper teens today…
I’m in the process of refining the wiring and layout and all…
I’ve rebuilt an old computer using XP Home as the operating system…
It’s starting to work O.K. at the moment…
I have a couple of Tannoy PBM 6.5 Boxes to mount on the wall, somewhere… I will connect the Tannoys to the Realistic SA 2000 (Classic/Vintage) Power Amp…
I hope it works O.K.
?
We’ll see where they end up, going…
The photo blog is
HERE…
for anyone interested in seeing how it’s coming along…
After the hardware gets into position the desk will go against the wall I have some more wiring to run and refine to IN/OUT paths and all…
It’s still a work-in-progress…
The scanner is working just fine with this setup…
There are no drivers beyond XP…
HP ain’t gonna make them, so-they-say… sigh…
However, it works great with this setup…
I am able to get on line and I am writing to this topic using this DJ Desk Machine…
Bill…
Time to make some music!

Go-on, Bill - play us your fav' bass doodle.
You know you wanna!
I’ve been following a Poppa Willis thread on another forum…
He has posted a link to a guy who has sampled a P-Bass and has manufactured an application for constructing
Bass Lines…
The software costs some 89.00…
It may be close to the perfect Bass Player…
It’s almost the end of Bass Players as we know them…
Within the software you are able to call up the style of music and the flavor to make the “Feel” just as you choose…
AND…
you know what else ?
There’s no drop-down menu that points to any arguments as to Tempo OR Feel
OR anything else relating to the song…
AND…
He’s never late for a tracking session…
The more you use the application the cheaper he plays for…
I forget the link address…
Can someone find it and post it ?
Bill…
I know it, but I’m not going to post it, b/c there is no way it will ever replace a human.
Hi TomS:
I soooo
agree with you…
I’ve heard them play the music I’m interested in…
I’ve seen them play the same stuff…
The discipline required to do that stuff is incredible…
I’ve never heard them flub a note…
I think it comes from working with the same drummer all-the-time…
and visa verse… Without the BEDS I believe it’s almost impossible to play-and-sing melody lines… (I’m listening to the Eagles, as I write this reply)
I’ve heard Leonard say that if they don’t sound right (the bass and drums)it’s a struggle for the lead-and-backing instruments to create so-called music…
That brings me to Hockey…
I think it’s all over for the Montreal organization for this season…
So far they’ve only managed to play together for for about 40 minutes, this series…
sigh…
Bill…
Hi n-Trackers:
I got the Tannoy Boxes suspended from the trusses this morning…
I’ve updated the photo blog to show their placement in relation to the Desk…
I’m continuing to put the setup through it’s paces…
At the moment, it appears that a permanent flow-path of wiring may be impossible to setup…
A specific/custom patching of hardware may have to be setup for each type of operation…
So far, I’ve learned that audio-and-video within a computer environment likes to be the prime A/V I/O and be in control of the signal flow path…
Otherwise audio feedback and video feedback takes hold…
Not Good…
Anyway, steady as-it-goes…
Bill…
Hi n-Trackers:
I’ve been working in the studio today, preparing to install the power amps for the 1/4 wave/bi-amped monitor speakers… I’ve updated the Photo Blog with current photos, of the project…
I installed strapping to use as a shelf to place the amps…
However, I got side-tracked…
The "Bottom/Lo-End Amp has heat sink fans to cool the output stages of the amps under heavy abuse…
However, I don’t need the fan noise or will I ever use this amp to have the fans on, to keep the output transistors cool…
So, I decided to modify the amp to have the ability to turn the cooling fans off and not make any noise while tracking…
Anyway, the fans can be turned off now…
While I had the amp cover off I decided to give the interior (of the amp) a good cleaning…
Lots of dust in there to impede the air from natural cooling…
Anyway, in my attempt to get the amps in the rafters, I discovered that it’s gonna take more than me to get them up there…
It’s gonna be a two-man job…
So, I’ll have to wait till I can get some help…
Maybe, tomorrow…
We’ll see…
Bill…
Looking good Bill. I’ve not even built the roof for my studio yet - but what is the best type of lighting to use for interference?
nice work bill
Hi TonyR:
They are a BiG Power draw… BUT, Lighting can be the biggest source of noise and interference induced into audio lines…
In my experience, anyway…
Incandescent lighting can even cause a big pain in audio lines…
Dimmers are a big NO-NO…
However, again…
you can see I have them-and-use dimmers…
It seems that just the audio path/run you’d think will create little-if-any interference will cause the greatest headaches…
Then…
there’s some audio toys that don’t just like to be connected together…
The “Common”/Ground then needs to be disconnected from one end of the run…
anyway, you know…
Then combined, video and audio, RUNS is just one Big Pain…
There’s nothing worse to have a idea to do a run… only to discover that it just don’t work at all…
Lately, it seems that every signal path that I run now needs to have all the other signal paths (run earlier) checked for quality, to make sure of it’s integrity…
I know one thing…
I am gonna have to get into the habit of drawing a “Signal Flow Path” “Chart/Sheet”…
In that regard… I’m so poor/lax ed at the disipline required…
IT has to be drawn on a piece of paper…
and every connector has to be labeled…
hehehe…
How come I know all that,
BUT
Don’t do it…
lol…
Bill…
e.g.
I forgot…
I think Bob is coming over here today to give me a hand to get those amps mounted up in the rafters…
There’s a lot of iron and copper (weight) in those transformers…
[EDIT] Levi and I will be over to help you get that roof built… How about that TonyR… Wouldn’t that be a nice trip for us… I think soooo…
Wow Bill, It’s been ages sinse I last looked at your Photo blog…Things have really come together, it looks awesome! well done xx
Thank you ange…
All I gotta do is get my a** out there and get creative…
I’m attempting to create more floor area…
The current project is to get those power amps up in the rafters…
I don’t have the where-with-all…
“S**t” to put them up there by myself…
without causing major havoc-and-injury to them and whatever…
Anyway, in the meantime we had a BiG Blow over the Sunday/Monday Night-time…
On Monday morning I lost a tree on the back corner of my property…
I have it limed and cut up…
It’s so bad to loose Greenery… It’s been there sense the early '90’s…
Anyway, that’s life…
Now, it’s back to getting the Studio working…
Bill…
It has taken a week…
It wasn’t any easy task…
I got those amps mounted in the rafters… The photo blog has been updated to show where they are and how they are mounted… I need to install the crossover module and run signal lines to them…
I should have weighed them, however, there has to be some hundred pounds worth, up there…
Maybe, by this time next week, I’ll have the monitor system back up-and-running…
We’ll see…
Bill…
