Studio

good on ya, bill. nice studio. :D

Thank you for posting that link…
I was looking for the threads earlier in the month…
In-and-around the first week of December…
I never anticipated the last entry to be that late in the month…
I took the Creation Station and the flat panels out there and fired it up… I have planned to run two CAT Lines yet for the LAN feeds…There appears to be no frost in the ground…
There’s no ice in the lakes, I can almost see buds busting out on the trees…
The dandy
lions can’t be far from bustin out…

I took a series of photos of what the flat panels look like…
I have them (the setup) on top of the skid of cedar I loaded out yesterday…
The next materials order will be the flooring… I saw the stuff I’d like to pick up… That’s if the sale is still on when I get some money in my pocket…

I’m doing my share for the economy…
I got my cards maxx’d out…
:p
:p

Here’s a photo update for anyone who’s interested in the goin’s on…
I can’t dilly-daly anymore…
That wireing has to go in…

I can’t do anything about the weather…

Bill…

How’d you get Les Paul to come visit?

Hi TomS:

What a nice DVD that is…
It’s a documentary of Les Paul growing up in Wisconsin and his playing career to his 90 th Birthday…
I’m not so sure that multi-track recording would be where it is today without some of the discoveries he made to audio electronics over the years…
However, it was bound to happen, sooner-or-later…

That box in your avitar looks like one of Les Paul’s designs…

Hey, Philly came back…
They looked pretty good on the ice this afternoon…
AND…
How’s that Vancouver series
going…
I havn’t been following that series…
Does it look like they are gonna do anything?
Sundine ain’t in the lineup…
What gives ????

Bill…

Sundin has a “lower body injury” but he’ll be back for game 4. Kariya is also supposed to play in game 4 - he’s had a horrible time this season - but he looked good in the practice skate video they aired.

Pitts and Philly is the series, for sure. Man, what a brutal game today. My wife says they ought to issue Philly players boxing gloves rather than hockey gloves. Or maybe sell the team as some kind of ultimate fighting event. But Crosby and company are tought; I’m really really impressed, more and more, with Crosby. What a tough player. How many players are that brilliant AND that tough? Gordie Howe? :)

And in the IHL semis, Flint is not in the playoffs…Fort Wayne whomped Kalamazoo today 5-1 and Port Huron and Muskegon are tied at 1 game apiece - just so you guys know what’s going on in our fine little developmental league… ???

Hi TomS:

I agree…
Whenever Sidney gets on the ice the other bench know he’s there…
There’s not a whole lot of hockey sport involved with this series… I’d like to see more hockey, however, I don’t have any cable TV in here…
sigh…

Yea…
Gordie knew how to damage other players…
Did they name him the Elbow King ????

BoY…
That was good hockey in those days…
I remember watching Hockey on the radio…
There wasn’t any TV back then…
The Colour Guys took you up-and-down the ice…
Anyone listening to the game knew exactly what was going-on

on the ice…
and all…
Sundin is not as young as he looks, anymore… When he’s playin his game he can make for some good hockey…

I was bent for watching that Vancouver game last evening…
I don’t know…
The TV was on…
????

The only hockey we got going up here, other than NHL is the Calder Cup…
BUT…
there’s no East Coast Teams…
at least, I don’t think…

I’m grounded, this morning…
I got a driver’s front tire with a nail in it…
I have to wait till 5:45 to call it in…
The only good thing about it is…
there isn’t much rubber left on it…
There’re 500.00 tires by the time you get them replaced…
I pretty sure they replace front tires in pairs…
We’ll have to wait-and-see…

Bill…

Calder Cup - Hershey? aren’t they always good? Last I looked, Grand Rapids was doing OK.

I used to listen to the Wings with the radio under my pillow. Bruce Martyn. Unbelievable game caller. I know, I know, Foster Hewitt. Know who else is amazing? Rick Jeanerette. Still going strong in Buffalo.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bruce_Martyn

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rick_Jeanerette

Hope the tire thing worked out!

Back in the radio days it was only Montreal or Toronto up here…
If it was a Leafs Home game then we heard Foster… If it was a Montreal Home game then we heard Dick Irving
?
Irvin
??
Senior…
It was rare to hear any Boston or New York games…
or farther west…

Danny Gallivan (A Cape Briton’er/ Caper} came on the scene from Montreal when TV became to medium of broadcast…
Danny was great on the tube…

Yea…
I got the tire fixed…
and got our own rig back…

For those of you who are not aware…
I’m a school bus driver, in my present life…
Not a Yellow one…
A white one…
We move motor skilled challenged, discipline or any challenged type of kids…
It’s a tough job…
but someone has to do it…
I work with a 51 year driver…
I’m a 10 year driver…
and
still learning how to do it…

I look forward to doing this every day…

At the end of the day I look at my working partner and we thank our stars
" How Fortunate We Are "…

Bill…

Sorry about that Boston sweep, Bill, but the Bruins sure look good this year. Of course, it always helps to have a good goaltender from Flint…

http://sports.yahoo.com/nhl/players/2969

OK, he’s really from Davison, but that’s just 3 minutes down the road from here…

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tim_Thomas_(ice_hockey)

The media is jumping all over the the Montreal Goaltender…
I think it was the Defence that let Montreal down…
That and Boston is just a better/tougher bench…
Montreal’s size and weight doesn’t do them any favors…
either…
It seems to me that the Habs only had one good scrapper on their bench, as well…
I can’t even remember his name…
If Montreal wants to play hockey with the rest of the league, they’d better get a few tough scrappers for their bench…
Say…
one guy for each line they want to put on the ice…
AND they’d better have puck skills to go along with being tough, as well… I hope New York wins their series…
Boston and New York would be the series of the Playoffs…

I don’t know what the matter is with me…
I settle in to watch some hockey on the TuBe…
and…
within minutes I’m nowhere to be seen…
I’m off to La-La Land…
:p
You’re right…
That Boston Goalie is gonna take them into the Stanley Cup Series…

Could-Be…
????

Anyway, I’ve been busy wiring in the studio today… I updated the Photo Blog…
http://community.webshots.com/album…art=168
I didn’t get the 40 amp main breakers yet for the Panel…
They’ve been ordered…
I guess the suppliers don’t know how important they are to this studio…
I should have told them to put them at the top of their TO-DO list, and don’t Dillie-Dallie with that order…
:)

I’m doing my share for the economy…
I’ve purchased oak flooring, today…
I’ve got the plastic stretched right out…
I have no idea just where the money is gonna come from…

I promised myself I’m not gonna spend any more money till I need something else for the studio…

Bill…

The order of breakers have arrived…

I’m now able to power the panel…
and remove the temporary extension cables… Power lines to the duplex plug boxes are getting there, almost complete…
(no photos)
I am considering not extending that distribution beyond two circuits…
Uneven distribution of power makes for audio noise…

While I was picking up the breakers I checked out the availability of audio wiring-and-cable and all…
It appears that 500 meter rolls are popular…
at least from this place…
No cut rolls…

Bill…

Studio Construction Update:

I’ve been busy out there…

The wiring is beginning to wind down… I have a few hundred feet of wire left to install…
I need to run some heater circuits and a couple of thermostat control wiring… to string up… I have dimmer switches to wire in to complete the lighting… Then run some security wiring … insulate and do the walls and lay the flooring…
it’s slow work, however, it’s coming…

I’m planning two CAT-5 lines from the house to the studio…
I need to run that yet…

I don’t have any photos to add to the blog.
I’ll get some…
though…
It’s cold and damp today…
5c…
I ain’t goin out there in that weather…

I’m afraid it’s gonna be an uphill battle for the Penguins to get beyond this round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs…
There ain’t much Hockey being talked about in the coffee shop…

Sydney is gonna have to wait another year, maybe…

Bill…

It's cold and damp today..
5c..
I ain't goin out there in that weather..

I'm afraid it's gonna be an uphill battle for the Penguins to get beyond this

For a moment there Bill I thought you might have wild Penguins running around in your neighborhood! Go out there and catch one!
Should be a great summer for you Bill! :agree:

In years past this weekend coming up can make tough weather.

Here’s a link to the extended forcast…
forcast for the next few days…

We’ve had 10"-and-12" wet snow for this weekend… After this weekend everyone can take their snow tires off…
The trees are just beginning to bud, over here…

Bill…

Studio Update:

I was busy today…
Still wiring…

I ran the heater feeds…
There will be 3000 watts of Heaters on two thermostats…

I installed the dimmer packs for the Mood Lighting…
I installed all the pot lights I’ve got made up…
I need two more pot fixtures… I have twelve more to install…
I’m short two pot lights… I don’t know how that happened…
The count should be thirty-six… I only have thirty-four…

I have five room lighting boxes to wire…
I should have that completed tomorrow…

Then Security Wiring and Outside Lighting to do… The wiring is winding down…
so-to-speak…

I did a photo shoot of the work completed today…
Link to Photo Blog…

Bill…

Studio Construction Update:

Finally, the insulation (part of the
project) is winding down.
The “White” glass insulation has changed to the Pink Glass…
I would have liked to completed the entire project with the “White” stuff (same material)…
However, the building supply center gets material wherever and whenever material is available…
SO…

The power panel area has been left unfinished… I still have some wiring detail to complete…
The vapor barrier is beginning… That will take a day or so to complete…
We’ll see…

Updated link to photo blog…

The 1" x 6" cedar wall is the next part of the project…
There is much cutting to-do to the cedar wall material… I imagine that the wall completion is gonna be a struggle…

I have some wall lighting fixtuers (three) to get yet…
I have two already…

Bill…

Studio Construction Blog Update:

It’s wet today…
Been that way for the last week…
Gonna be that way for for the next few days, so the forecast says…
It’s always that way (around here) during the Summer Solstice…

Photo Blog Update

I am struggling with old/tired/out-of-condition mussel and back pains…

I’m am building another building (storage building) to house the snowblower and lawn tractor and all…

Here’s the photo blog

for anyone interested in the project…
and, where ther building is in relation to the studio building…
I’m somewhat glad the weather is holding me back…
The old bones are not gonna let me work at the pace I’d like to work at…
It’s a plastic storage shed that shouldn’t need any maintenance…
I hope…
AND…
I hope it stands up to the weather (we get) around here…
We’ll see…
I’m gonna have power-and-lighting in it…
The power is coming from the studio distribution panel…

Anyway, Another day, and more rain…

Bill…

Well…
Here it is…
The middle of July…
This building is slowly taking shape…
inside,that is…
The weather has turned…
it’s nice and summery here…
well…
North of here there was fierce electrical storms with hail the size of marbles…
I think it lasted for a couple of hours…

Anyway, I am working on corner traps…
I have one built…
I’m planning on building maybe five more…
The front surface measures 24" x 6"…
I’ve been searching the fabric store for materials…
to fill them with…

The latest series of photos shows the completion to date along with details of the corner traps I’m building…
less the absorption and upholstery materials…
I am considering using two materials…
One layer being Quilting batton and the other layer being cushion foam… It’s much like the insulation that is in the building rafters…
Each material is about 1" think… The only question is…
what layer of material should be on the room surface ????

The quilting material or the cushion material ????
Well…

Anyway, that’s somewhere down-the-road…
I have floor/wall reflectors and rafter/wall reflectors to construct…
before the floor goes down…
I have a series of wall absorption panels to manufacture, as well…
I plan for them to hang on the wall like large photos…
We’ll see…
Anyway, at this rate of progress, the audio hardware installation is some months, down-the-road…

There’s still another day of electrical wiring yet to-do…
Anyway, this is the photo blog link for anyone who might be interested in how the room is looking…
Studio Under Construction…Photo Blog

It might be a good idea to view the photo blog in the reverse direction…
Just-a-thought
???

Bill…

it’s really gonna be nice Bill!

I work till I run outta money…
Then I run outta money and I can’t work…
:p

I’m sure the bucket’s gotta hole in it…
:p
RADAR Wayne and I used to belly-ache about this bottomless pit…
Ya keep throwing money into it hoping that someday it might you might see some of it in the bottom…
But don’t hold your face over the hole too long looking for it…
There’s an awful GAS emitting from it…
It might be hard on your health…

I gotta convince the cleaning lady to show up more often…
hehe
She promised me she would if I didn’t pay her in Loonies…
As bad as they are, she said Greenbacks are more preferable…

Bill…
