Thanks sevenOfeleven:

Wouldn’t that be something to look forward to…

This community up here, where I live is closely connected to some of the Big Names in entertainment right across the country…
My electrician friend is close to a Toronto Based group called the Stampeders… This past summer, he went out on the road with them…

We are of similar age…
Well…
I’m twenty three…
I just turned twenty four…

The Stampeders

Most of this type of group has their own home studios where they produce the stuff they sell on the Road Trips…and All… You Know…

They were one popular group, back then…
I remember stages I worked on…
We covered their work/songs…
Real Bar-Room Stuff…

A combination of Solar-and-Wind would be a real alternative to power supplied by the Monopoly Service…
They frown against it, though…
How it’s allowed is…
You can only generate your own power if you connect to the supply grid with your set-up so you have to sell any excess power back to the monopoly…
Yea gotta be a millionaire to follow the code they put in-force to sell them power…
Using their hardware is the only way they’ll accept the power you generate…
Well…
something like that…

Would I ever like to have a solar panel field and a decent windmill on a 10% grade hill facing south with a stream of 1,000 gallons per second, for any weather with No-Wind-and-Sun…
I wouldn’t worry anymore about power for the rest of my days…
I’d estimate somewhere
about an acre of land size (for the field) would fix me…

Man - that brings back memmories. Some of the best music I ever
heard was in the bars in the DC / Balimore area. Way back when.
But there are no venues for that kind of thing anymore. Or very few.
Too bad. It would be too out of control for the ‘controllers’.
But with the ‘world wide depression’ coming, (Jan,Feb 2009),
maybe there will be renaissance of the bar scene. Maybe you’ll
even be able to smoke a ciggarette in a bar again. Maybe proposition
a fine looking babe. Who knows? Bring on the ‘Depression II’. ???

Back Again:

I remember, and as I matured as a Bar Room Player… There was no shortage of work…
We worked as much as our life style would permit… I have no idea where all the energy came from…
I worked a day-time job and then worked the Bars at night… As-well-as doing Studio/Session and TV-and-Radio work… When I look back over my calenders there was some months that I didn’t have any nighs off…

Then the government introduced Video Gambling in-and-around the Bars and that spelt the Beginning-of-the End of playing the Bar Scene as it was known…
With the economy, and the way it’s going…
Maybe, the good times might come back for the hard working musicians…
Who knows…
????

How far back? I used to play in a few places up there ('78 - '85), but mostly at the Sandbar in Glen Burnie, md, over on the back side of the airport. (not suggesting I was part of the good music)

Cirkus was and probably still IS a great band. You guys doing another reunion next year? 'Bout time ain’t it?

Louis' Rock City, Crazy Horse, Psychedeli, Round Table,
a lot of Georgetown Bars, Five of a Kind, The Keg, just too
many to remember them alll.

But yeh, '74 thru early 80's. Oh what fun. Great Bands.
Face Dancer, NRBQ, Tractor, Crank, plus a lot of the big names too.
Stepenwolf, Aerosmith, Bruce - too many to recall them all.
May have seen you too - when I could see.

How about Razz!
And… The Slickee Boys!

Bill, I am sooooo jealous…

Friday, May 8, 2009, at the Brewery in Raleigh. It's going to be members of Jubal and Cirkus this time. Were planning on pulling out much Yes and Led Zeppelin if we can get the rehearsal time all and people all lined up.

Studio Update Report:

Yesterday was payday…
I got a load of pocket money…
It got hot so, I had to empty it…
:p
Anyway, I got a roll of wire…
Pretty close to $100.00
for 75 meters or 246 ft.
It’s a start…
This weekend I have lots to keep me busy…
I have to install the duplex boxes and power panel…

I have to modify the Mood Lighting Fixtures, to accept the Gel Paper…
We’ll see how it goes…

I updated the Photo Page…

Are you inviting girls to your studio? :p

Ii KkNnOoWw…
AND…
I Hear you…

I have the neighbourhood Pet Walkers going up-and-down the sidwalk standing out there looking at the building…
Saying…
Would I ever like to have that place for a Sewing Room…
If they can sing…
They’re In…

They’re real Sweeties…
Somehow, I don’t know how I could afford them…
:p

Now… I have to put up a building to put the snowblower and lawn tractor and lawnmower in…

Bill…

Studio Update:

Today, I mounted the power/distribution Panel…
AND.
began to mount Duplex Plug boxes around the room walls…

However, it’s bone-chilling cold…
I powered up the temporary heater this morning at 6:30am or so…
By 9:30 is was beginning to warm up…
As the day wore on it became shirt-sleeve warm…

The electrician recommends 3500 watts of Heaters…
He says that is the rule-of-thumb for that many Square Feet… in these parts…

I believe, we’re in for some ugly weather, overnight-and-tomorrow…
We’ll see…

I have 4-5 of those Pot-Light Fixtures modified for the Gel Paper…
I need to power them up to see how they behave… I think they’re gonna work O.K.
We’ll see…

Bill…

Green, Bill, we’re all just green with envy!

Although I think you sent us that cold weather. 13 F - what’s that in C?

-10.5

WAAAAAAYYYY TOOOOO COOOOOLLLLLLDDDD!

Two words: MOVE SOUTH :)

When I talked with Ryan Murphy (at Sweetwater) in Fort Wayne Friday noontime they were in the middle of some Ice-and-Slush… So he was saying…

We were in the Hi-Singles/Lo-Teens…That’s pretty close to the 50’s…
We know we’re In-For-It
when the Humidity goes up and the Temperature goes down… When you’re outside,
it’s Bone-Chilling…
It don’t matter what you’re wearing… It goes right through you…

That last weather we got came up from the Carolina’s…
It’s wet-and-heavy snow…
It was some 20" of it…

BoY… When it’s like that outside it’s nice to come inside and hear the furnace going…
Burning all the expensive heating fuel…
That reminds me…
I have to call and get the tank filled up…
I think it’s around $0.78 a litre…
At that price it’s gonna cost me about $400.00 - $450.00 for the order…

Bill…

Where is genetic engineering when you need it? :p

Studio Update:

After seeing the Pot Light Fixtures working … I modified how the gel paper mounts on them…
I now have them all modified
(24)…

I have the Duplex plug boxes mounted
(about every 3 ft. there is a plug box)… I need to install the switch boxes and decide how the Pot Lighting will be wired…

I am thinking that the lighting will be controlled from two areas…
The entrance and from near the counsel area…
We’ll see…
Areas of the room will be lit on when needed…
I am still toying with the idea of RFI Dimmers…
from both control areas… That means seven dimmers at each area…
OR
fourteen dimmers…
These dimmers are worth a few bucks…
The lighting fixtures will be portable wired…
(able to be moved)
SO…
each fixture will be wired with plugs…
The rafter area will need Duplex plug boxes…

I’ve been looking into Spruce Groove-and-Tongue 6" and 8" boards for the walls…
AND
Flooring…
That’s looming into the picture…

I was going to do photos…
However, it got too dark…
That was around 4:15 pm when I called It-A-Day…

We were spared the ugly weather…
It rained all day here…
But then the temperature went down and it turned to snow…
Today, at 4:45am it’s still snowing…
I’m expecting that there’ll be little going on around here today…
We’ll see…
The temperature is -1c…
That’s wet snow…
It’s gonna be tough on the snow blower…

I hate wet snow…
:p

Update as of Dec.26th.:

The Christmas Eve big blow caused some roof damage on the Studio…
I didn’t notice it until I backed in the driveway after being out on Boxing Day, the 26th. I was gonna wait and call the contractors regarding the damage, however, I decided that doing that wouldn’t get the roof repaired until they decided if it is a warranty repair-or-not…
The building is only up and paid for some 90 days…
Asphalt Singles have a bonding strip that works to hold the shingles to each-other…
BUT…
only after heat is applied to them…
We don’t get that kind of heat up here in the fall…
It takes a good year for a new roof to settle-in…
I lost two shingles (one above-the-other) in one place and two shingles (one above-the-other) (they just got rolled back) in another place on the weather side of the roof…
BUT…
the roof took a HIT…
I was gonna take some photos of the damage but it was too cold to take the time to do it…
I can only hope that the rest of the winter will be easy on my new building…

We’ll see…

There isn’t much happening out there right now…
I am hoping for a break in the weather to put some hours in, over the Christmas Break…
However, the thought of doing that, is fading…
I return to work on the 5th. of January…

Studio Update:

I’m treating this as a blog and the image link Studio Under Construction as the Image Blog…

Today we are weathering an Ice Storm…
Earlier, it was mild in the high single digits…
It’s right at the freezing point…
Ice… Big Time…
I took some photos of the Roof where the singles were damaged and repaired…
It’s a good thing I got the shingles replaced…
now that all this ice is coming down…

Anyway, sense the weather is not coperating, I am modifying these pot lights in preparation of hanging them from the ceiling joists…
I have just over half of the modified…
I am contemplating getting another box-of-ten, in the event that the room may need more lighting…
If I don’t have them I can’t install them…
So far these fixtures have cost less than $4.00 including the lights and gel paper…
I need power cable and three-prong plugs to complete the modification of them…
I’m estimating in the neighbourhood of $5.00 a fixture…

Hi Gents: The weather is beginning to get milder…
I’m ready to get busy in this studio construction, again…
I have cedar lumber and new hardware bought for the studio…

I’d like to update the studio under construction blog…
I have photo links to add to the topic… but I don’t know how to find that topic/blog…
It stopped sometime in early December…
When I did the search It came up with zilch…

How can I find a link to that topic?

Bill…

Beats me wonder where it went?
