Just go with “Bobby” Poppa - that’ll make you sound like you know everything that matters about hockey. As in: “Man, no one could skate like Bobby, eh?” Get the “eh?” in there, and glow a bit about Bobby, and you’ll be just fine, trust me.
Now, Dio, IIRC, you are not all that far from Huntsville, eh? Seems to me I remember something about some pretty good college hockey down there. Something about a lot of transplanted Canuck profs wanting a bit of home a number of years ago…Now, the Havoc, they’re another story, got some work to do there…
University of Alabama in Huntsville (UAH) Chargers were tops in their division for a pretty long run many moons ago. Never seen them play. The cheap turds who ran the only arena in town big enough to host the games would only allow a few “home games” a year. The guys were road warriors. I really don’t know how they are doing these days.
We use to go to HSV Channel Cats games just about every weekend. Loads of fun to be had. I carried my son over to play street hockey with the players one Saturday. The boy thought that was the shiznit man. Overall they were a pretty good bunch of guys. I can’t remember any of their names anymore. Gettin’ senile I guess…

Generally guys in the lower leagues are really good with kids & the community - our kids love the “skate with the players” thing they do a few times a year after the game.
