Nuttin' wrong with you Yaz... I have a feeling you are a lot like me. You are at your best and happiest when playing in a BAND with guys/gals who share the same musical passions as you. Alas, I am alone in this musical region I am in. My muse didn't blow a fuse either. It took the last shuttle into orbit or something...

D

Yep D, you may be right, I’m at my best playing off someone else. Guess it goes back to the “drum” thread also, you can’t simulate a real drummer. I start off with short patterns with the intention of changing thru out the song to sound more real, 20 mins into a drum track I’m cloning patterns and dropping in play, sca-rew all that. Drums take forever to get going here, the rest is done with eyes closed, that’s why my stuff sucks LOL.
Then again after playing 40+ years it may be a you can’t show an ol dog new tricks. Too set in me ways I guess.

Giving D the rest of the month off also, with pay, and 20 hours + a week to Poppa and D overtime pay for being REAL!

Pop…getting into the MIDI realm is a pain but once you start to get a feel for it I think you’ll find it pretty cool.
I don’t over use MIDI but it can really add a lot to a song.
I probably use my MIDI differently than most.
I put it all down on a midi track first and then add the vst(i)effect…so I hear it as piano then sax, then choir, then bagpipes…whatever, and then decide what I like the most.

Since I can’t play keys very well (only chords), a lot of times I draw the notes onto a blank midi track, then move them around to where they need to be.

Anyhoo…it (MIDI) was a real mindtwister until someone on this board (a bunch of somebodies) gave me a bunch of help which included the tutorial on audiominds.
Once it hit me, it was a really cool revelation.

Hang in there…you’ll be glad you did.
From what I’ve read, the kb37 seems to be a worthwhile piece of equipment. (I’m using an ancient 1985 Yamaha - one of the first with MIDI capabilities).

Thanx G8R! I figured on needin’ help. One reason I’m so smart, my intelligence matched only by my humility, is I’ve never been afraid to admit what I don’t know. I’ll count on ya’ll for answers. Thanks. I’ll go check out the audiominds tutorial.

One reason people don’t admit to what they don’t know is that they don’t know they don’t it until they know it then they know it so they don’t need to admit that they don’t know it because they do know it.

(that hurt to write…and read…moving along)

There’s nothing you can know that isn’t known…and as soon as you learn something, its known, so everything is known otherwise it would be unknown and we wouldn’t know it til we know it…

yeah, phoo, i’m with ya …

I knew that!

Soon as I get my kids through school, I'm building a tar paper shack out in the sticks somewhere and the rest of the world can just spin right on without me. Phooey...

When I die, a bear can eat me and get heart-burn...

Not to but in or anything but you do know you are able to make a "gift" of up to 100,000 tax free to anyone don't you?

Also insurance policies are not taxed under estate tax, and you can load them up with surplus. (which you can also borrow against for money now)

Don't wait till it's too late and the gov gets all their kitz and caboodles.
By the time the estate tax, pension tax, local, state and federal taxes are paid you will be lucky to have %20 to leave to anybody!

Don't wait till it's too late, take that money and put it in places that they can't touch it, and use what you can of the rest, the alternative is depressing.

You could calculate your whole worth at the dirt nap and make sure there is nothing left for Sam, heck give the rest to the homeless shelters, food banks, whatever it doesn't matter because your family will not see more than 20cents on the dollar on anything you have accrued.

Thanks Jerm. That’s a lot of swell advice for me, a guy whose only gonna leave his kids a steaming pile of bear crap.

Heh-heh…

Is this prime black bear dookey?

It is quiet sought after by those who manufacture hash you know and could fetch a fair price. :)

Jeremy, you might want to check with a lawyer 'bout all of that, b/c I think you misunderstand it. The estate laws are pretty complicated, but most of us here don’t have to worry about estate taxes, I suspect.

So, Pop, any progress yet on the new piece of equipment?

Been too busy rehearsin' and doin' a local play. My setup is flawed somewhere.
I'll get in my playroom and sort it out in a couple weeks - I'm just too scattered to think.

Nothin wrong with being scattered once in a while…makes ya feel good when you get it back together.

Well it goes for use working mules as well.

Pensions for example, that is if a person wants to leave their wife and family anything.

A friend of mine just took a 3,000 dollar hit on their pension and it is suspect they will take another before they retire.
When we looked into it it would have only took a 5,000 hit a year ago to cash out, not to mention if he does die in the meantime his family will be lucky to walk away with 40%.

He could have cashed out a year ago and put the money into a CD earning him 4.9% and he would not have taken any hit's.
If he want to do that now he already has 3,000 off the top.

Allz I am saying is in this troubled economy and with mortgage companies failing it is not wise to rely on things that did well in good economy (like pensions) for the security of their families future.

I know many of use here do not have much so we may have the attitude that it doesn't matter.
But having less should only make us more diligent in protecting and insuring what we do have is put to good use.

The rich have advisor's and loopholes for their money and there is no reason we should not utilize whatever is out their to use ours wisely and leave a larger something for the fam if at all possible.
