Ugh - just freekin' UGH!

Oh, I agree 100% with the principle. :agree:

Just saying that that area of law is tricky and it pays usually to consult with an expert.

To get off the subject of “legalism”… (spa-tooey!) how is the KB37 coming Poppa? We just sent the oldest off to another city to start college soon. I’m BROKE but I have hopes of getting a MIDI controller soon. I’m waiting on a report on the KB37… other than that I have my eye on an M-Audio Axiom 49.

I’ve used the plugins in it more than the controller - they are awesome. On top of the library you have access to downloadable presets from line 6 on line, right from the Gearbox control. The asio drivers are as good or better than our US122’s. It’s going to take me time to use the controller, I just don’t have the patience to program notes when I can play them elsewhere. Maybe I don’t have the talent for it. I’d be the first to admit it.

That’s pretty good news. You know, I have the GearBox stuff that came with my POD XT Live and I don’t think I have even opened them up? I installed all the goodies on the lappy but I haven’t gotten around to messin’ with it…

I got the gearbox gold prize from SweetWater - what a nice tool box! (No I haven’t opened it.)
It’s gonna be a real joy to send it out to whoever wins it. Lots of presets to get you started.
I’m considering getting rid of both my DigiTech pedals for live playing and going with the Line 6 Floor Pod.
Whatcha think?

I really like my XT Live. I’d rather use my valvulating toob amp but hey… you know that story. (I DO GET to use it Saturday!! WOOT!!) Anyway, I’m finding the XT is chock full of tones. Ignore the preset stuff, plug into your PA or whatever and start building what YOU want from scratch. My main sounds are thus:

1A) - Marshall Plexi

Gain at about 65-70%
Stomp - Boss OD model for more "kick"
Mod - Boss Chorus model for a tiny bit of "swirl"
Delay - quarter note tap delay (mostly used for volume swells, whale noises etc…)
Line-6 Wah

This one sees a lot of use… especially for “heavier” stuff or BIG power chords. With no OD turned on, it cleans up pretty good, especially with a Strat on the second “notch”. Pretty good for little riffs, arps and laid back rhythm parts.

1B) - Vox AC30TB (This one me likey-a-lot-ski…)

Gain about 70%
Stomp - Boss OD cranked pretty good.
Mod - Chorus again… lil’ bit of swirl…
Delay - old school slapback delay (lot’s of fun)

This one without the OD kicked on, has that chimey VOX thing happnin’ and cleans up pretty well with the volume knob. I use the VOX Wah model with this one.

I gotta say though, I like the Korg AC30 model much better. I have a Korg Pandora and I absolutely LOVE the AC30 model in that little thing…

1C) - “Treadplate” Line 6’s model of a Boogie Dual Rectifier

Gain about 85%
Stomp - ProCo Rat punched up pretty good
Mod - same old chorus
Delay - quarter note tap again.

This is the “screaming” guitar solo channel and seldom see’s much use. I have a few lines in some songs where I use the delay and volume swells as a sort of echoey string effect. Without FX this one really kicks for big power chords too. I’m not sure about the wah model on this one… seldom used.

1D) Fender Deluxe Reverb

CLEAN, baby CLEAN…

Stomp - some OD model… not the Boss OD… I forget? Don’t use it much anyway…
Mod - chorus, pretty swirly and thick. Very 80’s…
Delay - whatever feels right

This one with the Strat is right down my alley, think Lifeson, Summers, etc… all the cool 80’s players with the big chorus thing happening. Be careful though, I hate the guys who dial in so much it sounds like their guitars are out of tune… Vox Wah again…

Wow… I wrote a lot of hooey up there didn’t I?

Bottom line: Line Floor POD setup for YOUR style will work very, very well. Ditch the presets and roll yer own.
:agree:

EDIT: BTW, I have a neat little custom switcher I built several years ago, so even though I’m using my amp Saturday, the POD is gonna be at my feet too. Mostly just for FX though. The main “tones” will be from the amp. Carvin BelAire modded to 25 watts from 50 watts, 2x12 Celestions. Sweet…

AWWW!!! NO!!! NOOOO!!!! NO!!!

I went to check out my toob amp, the boy had used it at church in the youth group. It's dead, DEAD... wahhh!!! wahhh!!!. The power supply fuse is blown. Once replaced, it didn't blow again so maybe it's just a tube. My son thinks it may have taken a tumble. So if it jarred a filament loose, it coulda popped the fuse without doing any serious damage. Have to check it out before Saturday... I don't think it's the tranny shorted... (THANK GOODNESS!) if it was, the new fuse would have popped straight away. Power transformers are EXPENSIVE...

PS Note to self: BEAT THAT KID WHEN HE COMES HOME!

bummer - got tubes?
