Ver 6.0 beta install

???

Anyone have a clue?

Right click to test effects gave me this:

I’ll click try again next time…instead of continue.

Same here, it loaded, but the buttons are all bassackwards

I got a long list of error windows…

Time for chat

Compressor is hard to see over black bkgnd. Move it while playing and it creates a somewhat cool effect.
Spacebar is play and play is setup to auto record - ain’t figured that’n out yet - or the little white box - seems to be on and off?

Hi Gents:

I’m downloading it as I reply here…
I’m at 15% now…
It says another 2 hours+ to get it down…
I use GetRight…
The more I browse the Board the longer it’ll take…
The average kbs. is just about 3 kbs.
I’m gonna log off here so I can get it down…

Bill…

You guys have me worried already. It’s still 15 Megabytes without the .NET trash too. :disagree:

I will download and take a look… fingers crossed…

D

Downloaded, Installed no problems. It even plays my choked on V5 project at 20ms with no sputters. Just for reference, R plays the same project, same FX at 7ms. Still, this is a lot better than V5. Looking good so far.

D

I would have to say no to this one again!!! :disagree:

v6 b2323 installed with no issues that I saw…
I’ve been playing with it’s appearance here on this ASUS CUSL2C/Intel P-111 512 meg. ram that I call my Editing Machine… I find that I am able to operate the transport from the keyboard…
BUT…
Cursoring over the buttons with the mouse doesn’t work…
What happens is…
using the mouse…
this brings up the Explorer Window where the .wav files are located…

When I import a file unto the time line I see a blank channel
BUT…
It’s just the Time line Desk…
I Right-Click
and remove
AND…
then All is O.K.
or normal…

I’m only playing with one channel…

So-Far-So-Good…

Bill…

[EDIT]
I didn’t see that many splash-screens when I launched it for the first time…

Flavio:
That’s a pretty nice Repro-Meter…

Bill…

Hi Gents:

I’ve been at this b2323 most of the night… I an slowing down quite a bit…
I’m ready to shut this thing off for a while…

The Mouse Cursoring over the Transport buttons work O.K.

except the “RECORD-and-PLAY”
Buttons are reversed…
I am slow to realize what you were saying in your earlier posts…
When I discovered the transport issue,
something hit me and came to my attention, regarding something that has always been a transport item that should be fixed, if it is at all possible…
In the settings/config./options Panel, I have checked “ASK FOR READY BEFORE RECORDING” box…
For me it’s an option/something that I need to be aware of before Rolling the Transport…

Bill…

Still get the error files Pappa posted, got it to install hitting continue, tried 24bt record, same as v5.

I give up!

Hi Gents:

I’m up-and-going at the n-Track Editor again…
But I really need to prepare the P-4 Dual boot machine so I can see how v6 behaves on that machine…
The XP desk should be O.K.

It’s the '98SE desk that gonna be interesting to see…

I discovered
early this morning that .NET Framework needs to be installed to do some of the n-Track renders…
For example, I opened the Convert .wav to .wma files with-in n-Track…
The codec opened, as it’s already installed in the Windows System System 32 folder…
I think…
Anyway, a screen pop ed up saying that .NET Framework needed to be installed with-in the application to render/convert the .wav file to .wma file…
Can someone confirm that command?
[EDIT]

When I launched the LAME mp3 utility the pop-up screen says that n-Track uses the Lame mp3 .dll and needs to be downloaded…
The choice is…
Yes-or-No… the n-Track link is there…
I have the .dll and it searched for
and located the file on the C Drive

A choice was given at/on that command to allow/disallow that command to install…
AND…
I think the screen said that .Net could be “Turned Off”
or “On”…
However, I didn’t look into how to find where that command is found…

It was a long night of discoveries…

I’m mentally fatiqued…
I need a break from all this…

I also add to my reply to say that I have Microsoft Service Pac Rev. 3 to my setup here…
i am hearing on many Boards and Forums and message boards that the addition of this Microsoft Update is causing much trouble and issues to a high percentage of users that have installed this utility…
I’m not sure about this, BUt
If you install it you can’t get rid of it very easy…
I am fortunate to have reported on several of these Board/Forums that I have little-if-any issues to contend with after installing it…
There are a bunch of Horror Stories out there regarding it’s installation by as many as 30% of users that have it installed…

At the top of the list is, my Internet Explorer V7 (latest builds) is the only issue I can find…
If it’s Service Pac 3 that’s causing it…
My browser is slow to launch/open up…
After the Browser desk appears, then it runs quite normally after the launch opens up…

I’m not sure if Service Pac 3 is a factor as n-Track operates on this P-111 XP Machine…
We’ll see…

A Big Thanks to Flavio for all the Energy it takes to keep it (v6) going…
:agree:

Steady, as-it-goes…
:p

Bill…

No problem installing build 2323 on my once very advanced P4 with XP and my fine antique Aardvark Q10, running without .net because that messed up everything for me in the past.
Only problems I noticed in a short work out were the play, record and stop buttons, as others have found, and this: the signal path thing is a great idea, but it is unreadable for me - the font is too small when it’s not full screen, even then it’s hard for me to read, and I couldn’t for the life of me figure out how to restore the window to normal size from full screen mode.
Esc did not work, and randomly left and right clicking all over the screen pulled up track info, oddly enough, but the full screen signal path display would not go away.

Also, I hate evaluating software that is not fully functioning.
I generally let others do beta testing.
I’m not very good at it anyway.
:)
Is there any way I could just buy the codes for version 6 now, so I could really use the program?

Flavio emailed me about the transport functions - said a fix was being uploaded. I presume that will be build 2324 - nope just checked and 2325 has been posted.
I bought codes for the last build of 5 last week - they work in 6. Only other thing I have a problem with is the fa4bndeq.dll loading on install.
This is a true beta release though. Flavio needs the input from users no matter how tedious and frustrating it is. (it’s only the beta, it’s only the beta, it’s only the beta…) Did I say that out-loud?

Yep, 2325 up now, mere minutes after I downloaded 2323, will check it out this evening.

Lots of good new things in this version. Lots. And it seems very stable so far. Then again, I only had trouble when that net stuff was introduced. Dunno why that was.

Still would like to see the tuner do all of the funny tunings - the ones that are designed for gutiars, like the Peterson tuners do, especially. I’m going to have to buy one of those, and they cost a pretty penny, and it sure would save me some dough! :D

Hi n-Track Users:

I’ll be downloading b2325?
is that what is posted now…??

Scroll to View>then Signal Path
is new…
Anyway, I opened it up… I didn’t handle it with-in n-Track… BUT, however by accident somehow I opened it up to cover the full screen…
I couldn’t find a key-stroke to close it…
After looking-and-looking I finally had to do a “Soft” boot of the machine…
Even the Windows Task Bar at the bottom of the monitor screen disappeared…

That Playback Meter is fantastic…
I can remember in-and-around the CBC back in the mid-to-late '70’s…

A Meter Monitoring Standard was introduced…
I don’t know the terminology or what it was call by the Audio Guys there…

Anyway, the Musicstop tendered on and won the bid to Supply the CBC with a Soundcraft Audio Desk for the local Mobile Audio Truck…
The year was late '78 early '79… This truck wasn’t short of anything to-do with audio…
It was even outfitted with a 2" 24-track recording deck…
Back to the Soundcraft Desk…
It was outfitted with normal view Analogue Meters, PPM Meters and somewhere along the Output Signal Path there had to be this Switched/Stepped-Attenuated Meter. Sense the Soundcrat Desk didn’t have this custom meter bridge that the tender referred to…
It fell upon me as the Service Manager to meet the terms of the tender and come up with this meter…
The specs and design was spelt out by the CBC But… the Meter bridge had to be built…
I knew all of those characters in the CBC Maintenance Department… It wasn’t their responsibility to Build anything for this tender… What a bunch of guys…

Looking back over this meter and how it worked in the signal path is almost exactly what this Playback Meter does in the digital domain in n-Track…
The attenuator steps of this meter bridge was…
0db…
+3db…
+6db…
+12db…
and… +24db…
I stand corrected…
But I believe that those Steps are a logarithmic attenuation…
and it meant that the operator had to TAX the Signal Chain by that amount of DB’s to attain 0db or that level in the Audio Signal Path…
I’m almost sure that this new Meter is measuring…

Is learjeff around here to set me straight on this…
leafjeff…
what’s your theory…????

on this…

Bill…

Me too having trouble when maximizing the Signal Path window. Otherwise it looks good so far, but haven’t used it much yet. Just a couple of quick sessions on my laptop.
