If your installed and working copy of n-Tracks (V2, V3, V4, V5) magically stopped working because Flavio didn’t put out the 6.0 version then maybe n-Tracks would be dead.
If your copy of n-tracks doesn’t work as expected, then use something else.
Flavio mentioned in a post that he was working on V6. He did not promise anything. He didn’t set a time.
No wonder he doesn’t post here very often.
Hi n-Trackers on this Topic:
In my opinion Flavio is near or at the top of the list of dedicated Audio Programmers… OUT THERE… BAR NONE… He has his fingers squarely on the pulse of what his users ask for and use when working with his Multi-Track Editor… If the machines that we use appear to have operating issues… that’s not the fault of n-Track or Flavio…
There’s some BIG TIME Users of n-Track out there that wouldn’t hang around this Board… They don’t have the time to post up here… They’re busy working on their Audio Projects…
That’s what I have to say, about that…
Bill…
Morning, all!
Very cool to see hux, phoo, wox, and many other familiar names still here. Hope you all are enjoying life and making great music.
And it’s very cool to hear that Flav is working on V6. N was my first multi-tracker and will always be special to me. And i agree with comments about Flav being extremely dedicated. He’s always been receptive to user input and dedicated to keeping N moving forward.
So here’s to Flavio, and to the product that brought us all together.
tj
Hi again, Bill, and a big WHAZZUP to you, teej. Long time no see.
I’m putting a third agreement to comments made by Bill & tj. Flavio’s product is extremely good, he puts a lot of work into it, and he IS dedicated to his customers. I can’t begin to count all the times he’s provided help to my small-scale audio company. We’re still relying on n-Tack as our base for recording & mixing. And, where all the big boys selling in the marketplace have tried to squeeze us at the budget end, Flavio has kept his pricing low.
teej, went looking for your website a few months back and couldn’t find it. Change the address or what?

Hi Teej, nice to see another old member back here.
But, do you still stick by the charming post you made at Audiominds?
I’m talking about the one that said: "Just been to the n-track forum. That place really is a cesspit!"
I’m not really sure if it’s better to be one of those things that float around in a cesspit, or, a self-righteous hypocrite.
I’ll let Teej speak his own mind of course, but there was a while there when things were pretty rancid here. The nature of these forums is to evolve and change. It went through a “funky” spell and is now IMO is evolving again. There was a lot of spillover from the “Anything goes” forum that (IMO) affected a lot of stuff in the main forum.
Things change… always…
D
Things change… always…
Yeah, you’re right of course Tim. But it still rankles. I still object to being likened to a piece of crap floating around in a cess-pool. And I still think that Teej owes an apology to us who were here at the time. Either that, or he should stay the hell out of here.
But funky? No, I don’t think so. There’s always been an element of lively debate and disagreement here; that was one of the great things about this forum, no matter how much I disagreed with many of the posts.
But coming over from Audiominds full of self-righteous pseudo-friendliness, then returning to Audiominds and making a comment like that? Sorry, I still think it sucks.
Ah well, thank God it’s just the Internet, and not real life!
(Sorry Teej, I probably over-reacted, but, I’m still fairly pissed about it!
)

I have to agree.
Where is V6?
Zzzzzz.......
KingFish
I’d say that v6 will be along when Flavio decides to let it float…
I hope by that time I’ll have this P-111 back up and running…
and I can judge it’s behaviour/performance against earlier versions-and-builds with some of the same .sng files that were created with say v4 and v5…

Hi Teej, nice to see another old member back here.

I'm talking about the one that said: "Just been to the n-track forum. That place really is a cesspit!"
I'm not really sure if it's better to be one of those things that float around in a cesspit, or, a self-righteous hypocrite.

To explain further, for what it's worth...
A few years ago, some folks here started posting very anti-God sentiments. Most comments were directed at people who (foolishly, according to them) believe there IS a God and weren't afraid to say it. I'm one of 'those'.
If got bad enough that several of us left this forum. This was AFTER AudioMinds was created, by the way. We created AM to serve as a place to send n-Track newbies for basic DAW how-tos. AM was NOT created as a replacement for this forum.
Anyway, i may have called this forum a cesspool; i honestly don't remember. Syncline doesn't mention a post number or date, and the Search function doesn't turn it up, so i'll have to take his word for it. At one point, it smelled very much like a cesspool to me, and i might very well have said it out loud... based on the intensity of the personal attacks we Christians were subject to.
So, i was hurt, and i lashed out. I should know better, and i appologize to anyone who wasn't involved in God-bashing.
I came back with the intention of posting 1 time in support of Flavio. While i no longer use N, it (and the way this forum used to be) still holds a special place in my heart.

Lucky me still doing the backstroke in the shallow end of the kiddy pool!
Was that warm spot I just swam through?
Anywho to update, I have recently updated to the latest version 5.(something) and I must say after all these years of waiting I am pleasantly surprised!
I am one of the rare people whom upgraded and has seen no problems.
I installed NET.framework in XP and ALL of my old sng. files show up clearly and play inside of the latest build (they are all from 2.3 and Windows 98SE)
The program was a breeze to set up with the M-audio Audiophile(thanks again teej, since I did read a few of the reviews at audiominds on that device before purchasing so I already knew what common problems where and how to deal with them)
and thanks to all here whom have encouraged me over the years and gave me the tips for the current equipment I am using which as I said is all running smoothly
Will be posting some new tracks soon…hum and hiss free thanks to BOTH of these forums and the kind and generous people whom dwell here.

Teej, you’ve humbled and shamed me, and now I even more owe you an apology, and you have my sincere thanks for yours.
But, just to straighten up some facts…
The word may well have been ‘cesspit’ and not ‘cesspool’. A search might reveal that, or there again, with the many deletions that mods make on Audiominds, it may be gone. (This happened after you had resigned as a mod over there).
And, it happened quite a considerable time after Mac led the exodus across the cyber-Sinai to the “promised land”, perhaps a year or two later.
(Incidentally, according to my doubtful memory, Audiominds was created after Mac had had enough of his beliefs and dictates being questioned on here. Note" I said “questioned” not “attacked”. Although, as always in these forums, there are some who find it difficult to differentiate between the two.)
Anyway, yeah, bitterness and frustration sometimes cause all of us to write things we regret later, and I’m no more innocent of that than anyone.
So, group hug?
(and, if this doesn’t stir some life into this moribund forum, nothing will! )

Does this mean I have to take my swim suite off?
There was an Exodus and no one invited me? geez Louis.
Oh well I like the Egyptian chicks anyhow…you know the Bangles.

For the record, I don’t recall a single anti-God post. I DO, however, recall quite a few anti-fundamentalist posts.
Not the same thing at all.
Mac had a way of not taking differing views too well. Disagree with him and he’d go on the offensive, and I mean his posts would be very offensive, including private messages. He did it on AM as well. He didn’t mind using profanity at me directly in private messages to tell me what an idiot I was, why I was an idiot and where I could put my idiot self. Nice coming from someone that regularly spouted off about being a Christian.
Tj and a few others have been greatly missed.
Mac was not.
OK - everyone has said they regret the incidents. Let’s stop now before someone gets offened again.
I remember the time well and there were insults and tirades that made this forum an unpreasent place - folks from other forums were dropping in just to “stoke the fire.” Not good.
Let’s talk music and computer programs . . .
Peace
Wow, did all that poisonous stuff happen on the Anything Else forum? I was totally unaware of all of this. I guess I’m glad I restricted my activities to the n-Track forum. I don’t think I ever looked at the other forum.

A bunch of it started there and kind of "bled" into topics in the main forum. Some folks got their toes stepped on, didn't like it and bailed. I tried to look at it from both sides of the fence and apply what I believe are true Christian principles to the situation. "Judge not lest ye' be judged" and all that... Having said that, some people wrongly or rightly (again it's not my place to judge) got deeply offended by some things written here. There were a lot of views expressed and some found it difficult to find a middle ground.
A hundred years from now... no one will care so...
I'm with bax... let's talk music and software.
You guys think Flav is totally revamping n from the ground up? I hope the interface keeps the same look and feel with needed enhancements of course, but my real hopes lie in the area of efficiency. The main reason I had to stop using n-Track at around 4.? was because some features I needed came at the expense of lower track counts glitching and popping audio and random crashing.
Here's hopin'...

Hey Gents:
We-and-Our Egos deserve to be served a dose of reality, from Time-to-Time…
I used to Get It from time-to-time… Maybe, I still do…
If I remember, I even got defended by Mac…
I THINK…
However, you could never be sure of what you got…
Yea gotta be tough to hang around these Boards…
This is a great Board to Hang around…
Do LIKE Minds
tend to Gravitate ?
I’m takin’ about Audio…

Honestly I have experience none of the "popping" or glitzing or crashed with the latest 5 build.
As I said before I am using it with the Firewire interface and it seems to be able to hold it's own.
The only thing I'm dealing with is that the buttons look different and everything is not where I remember it to be in 2.3.
and also as I said ALL of the sng. files I bring in from the other version (2.3) work flawlessly in the latest version.
I noticed the M-audio device had many error reports in forums which included pops and glitches, but they were do to certain chipsets and processors(mostly AMD's)along with integrated firewire.
I do feel fortunate I just happened to get a good board (Asus) with a P4 2.2G which is stable under the Firewire Interface, Ntrack, Audigy, Cool Edit, and Samplitude.
I recorded at least 20 or so tracks in the same sng. with N if not more and not a single issue.
I would like to figure out how to minimize the look of the wav. file since they are HUGE and I have to scroll up and down to see other tracks (they are not that way in the older sng. files I open up)...but other than that not another complaint as of yet.
I see the SPDIF input, along with the Midi ins in Ntracks preferences and one of these days I am going use them!
(soon as I learn how)
